Death is never easy no matter what age we are

Where we are in life or the preparations we make beforehand

Death is sudden and chaotic

It swoops into our lives with its scythe

Reaping and severing connections

It consumes everything in an instant

Just like a black hole engulfs the world around it

There are no words to say in that moment

There are no emotions to express that void in that moment

Death is a cruel master over life I believed for many years

But that’s not true

Death is a gentle servant

He takes no pleasure in his work

But he takes nonetheless

Whether it be a friend or a stranger

The void is all the same

But that void brings us together in a way only death can

To remember the very best and the very worst of one's life

The jokes, the laughs, the struggles and the pain

Memorialized in our hearts and minds

Tom will forever be remembered in our hearts

In our writings

Because when that void came for us

Tom was there to fill it

So, It's our time to fill our void

With Tom’s words, his writings, his lessons and his hope

sad poetry
