i love that moment when the wind catches the bottom of your dress
teasing, playful, and lifts, gently yet suddenly
rushing calmly past
and for a brief moment
before you snatch it back up your side
it seems like you will take off in flight.
i always catch it but i wonder
what would happen if i didn’t?
would i?
could i?
catch the edge of the wind.
run with her as far as she will allow.
ride into the clouds, farther than i can see, with the seagulls, and fly somewhere i felt
free?
maybe next time
i will let the wind take me.

I have a fascination with the wind. This poem spoke to that in me, and I truly adore every line. The childlike scene, the innocent curiosity, and the whimsical imaginings of what could happen if you, just once, chose not to smooth the skirt back in place. There is much here to ponder, and I love poems like this, that have a deceptive simplicity. Great job ❤️
