I stopped doing everything else and started writing

about the reconnaissance mission

Splintered pieces of self

buried and left for dead

but not forgotten

Tactical plans laid out in unit briefing

as clearly

I would not survive the remainder of the journey minus complete self

I didn’t need this

I needed me

Listening for breath sounds akin to a stage one cardiac arrest assessment

And what a relief to see movement

Energy vibrating off in a distant corner of undergrowth that you’d walked past like a hundred times before and not seen

Sometimes this wisdom is deemed madness by those who just did not know

The love you gave was manifest from a deep infinite source

and to maintain life

it had to flow freely

by definition

is finite

It was not a design flaw that kept you thus
