Her Time has Come

She whispers yes to life

Some days she awakens to the world and wonders what it’s all about,

And on others she awakens with a smile upon her face,

Her life is a roller coaster ride of hot messy emotions,

And her mind dictates her every day headspace.

The darkened clouds that hang over her head dissipate,

As she removes the rotten debris from her vicinity,

Making way for the future of love and harmony,

And forgetting the past as it has no room in her infinity.

Her skin echoes her excitement of the upcoming possibilities,

Shivering in her freedom of acceptance and glory,

A cloak of happiness weaves through her essence,

Highlighting the magic of her wisdom within her story.

Bars across her heart vibrate to her new frequency,

Swallowing the old pain and washing it clean,

Excitement her new order of the day,

And the destruction of yesterday is nowhere to be seen.

Impossibilities are a myth that are no longer welcome in her mind,

As she dreams of the stories she’ll live on the ‘morrow,

Golden rays of sunshine have been ordered from the menu,

Scattering the ribbons of her previous sorrow.

Sitting upon her mountain on the tip of her life,

Watching the past burn itself into the halls of obscurity,

No longer living in the realms of regret,

Her thought patterns her heart’s newfound security.

When asked how she saunters through the hell of heartbreak,

She lifts her head and gazes into your eyes,

Places a mysterious grin on her pretty face,

And reminds you of the responsible one’s lies.

She whispers, “I am the haunting past of forgotten lovers,

Those that were never really worthy of my time,

Discarded with a flick of my fingers, trampled into the past,

To make way for the love that’s mine in the divine.“

She proudly looks towards her future with excitement,

Knowing the minute of debate is closing the distance,

The one she’ll spend within a loving embrace,

Is the one that’ll find her heart clear of any resistance.

About the Creator

Colleen Millsteed

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.
