Winter rains encase the walls
swaddles the webs, that line the halls
Collects the excess as it falls
as the cool winds of cessation calls
*
Exposed to the chill and wintry air
gone summer days of savoir faire
The sweet sun warmed days, without a care
and sunlit rays melting your hair
*
Frozen in time, and well preserved
the need to feast, has been conserved
The wind and rain, horizons curve
this Winterland to be observed
*
Ice-capped and nival is my heart
an avalanche tore it apart
A sacred, priceless work of art
much like the seasons fresh new start

You have a habit of creating some beautiful nature poems Kelli, and I like how they are always metaphorical, linking to humans in some way. “The sweet sun warmed days, without a care and sunlit rays melting your hair” is a wonderful image ☀️
Beautifully done, Kelli 💗
Lovely words, thankyou for sharing xx
All this, a nice fire in the fireplace & a cup of hot cocoa cradled in your hands--perfection. (Recognizing the empty place on the couch next to you, just waiting for that fresh new start.)
Beautiful piece. Nival is a lovely word.
Just beautiful!
Another great poem
