Forget Me Not

Remember the good

Forget me not, forget me nay

In hollow memories I lay

With stolen words I’ll never say

Embedded in the cusp of May

Like predators consumed by prey

***

Forget me not, forget me please

But only in the deepest freeze

Demented by the nipping breeze

Forgetting how to turn the keys

Above your head below the knees

***

Forget me not, forget me now

Demeanor holier-than-thou

From feigning fancy middlebrow

With pseudo knowledge and know-how

A feather on a crumbling bough

***

Forget me not, forget me well

I see the price now of the sell

That snapped the branches to compel

The fleeing of a pure gazelle

It’s too late to un ring the bell

***

Forget me not, forget me no

The curtain won’t erase the show

When spitefulness we overthrow

We melt the slammer bars of woe

Releasing chains from long ago

***

Forget me not, forget me nix

I love you from the River Styx

Disintegrate the crucifix

Turn rubble into stacking bricks

And love again will intermix
