Florere

Like a light in the dark,

A brilliant star shimmering in the night,

You ignite with a spark,

You blossom, your petals glistening with such beauty in sight.

Like all life forms, you change and adapt to phases of time,

No matter the dirt or grime.

May your roots grow deep,

As your leaves stretch to seek a higher plane.

As your height seems to slowly creep,

As you continue to work to gain,

Ever reaching for the sun,

Ever starving for more,

Never not done,

Never not sore.

As you evolve to your potential with perseverance despite the storms,

You commence to breach new forms.

Some days are darker than others,

But you're not alone, for you're surrounded by sisters and brothers.

All developing and fighting despite the bleakness and shadow,

All growing through the weakness and woe,

Knowing nourishing exposure and brighter days are coming,

As the raindrops pound down all around, drumming.

If you begin to wither, fret not,

You have come this far and fought.

This cycle of life will not condemn you to a forgotten place,

You will remain, forever and always with grace,

In the memory of what surrounds you,

False or true.

As you pass into the cold of winter,

Your bonds and trunk may splinter.

Your contribution to the environment around you will live on,

Throughout all that will follow the coming dawn.
