Fading Steps

We tangled the lines

We no longer cared

To follow,

An unknown destination

No longer desired

Despite previous yearning

For the final stop

On a trail we

Followed for too long

As our steps staggered

And new paths emerged,

To cut through

Plans solidified

And drawn in sand

By hands not our own-

Only to be erased

And readjusted

By the lines we yanked

This way and that

Aligning with the route

We most desired-

Until the wind changed

And with it our choice

And our end goal-

An end constantly moving,

The stars the final destination

As we dance through an ocean

Of possibility.

You have traveled one of the paths many do encounter in life. These lines invoked, sadness for you, yet a certain gladness that you could add this experience to your treasure chest of life.
