We plucked the stars
To carry below,
Tucked in mason jar
For safekeeping,
Away from prying minds
And investigative eye,
Sincere in our wish
To keep one mystery
Alive and well
For the next bout
Of imagination filled
Dreamers
That stumbled to earth
In error.
We hid our words
Below fruitful soil
At the base of an ancient
That told stories
With falling leaves
And jagged line in skin,
Dancing in wind’s
Swift breeze
Swaying to the tales
Told by their brethren
Awaiting the next bout
Of imagination filled
Dreamers
That stumbled to earth
In error.
Until the moment
When their soul emerged
Dawning the brilliancy
Of the stars tucked away,
Replacing the lights
We hid away
In our attempt
To protect what we knew
But didn’t understand.
