Everyone Is My Valentine

I don’t care

if you’re my friend,

my family member,

my neighbour,

or my idol;

everyone is my valentine.

Love

comes in different sizes,

different tints,

different hues,

different shades,

and different shapes.

I don’t care

if you’re Hispanic,

if you’re Black,

if you’re Asian,

if you’re Indigenous,

if you’re Caucasian,

or if you’re mixed race;

everyone is my valentine.

Love

is painted,

written,

danced to,

and sung

in a variety

of languages and ways.

I don’t care

if you’re queer,

if you’re trans,

if you’re autistic,

if you’re in a wheelchair,

if you use a walker,

if you wear glasses,

or if you wear braces;

everyone is my valentine.

Love

is not just

a feeling we feel;

it’s a set

of beliefs

we develop and stick to.

I don’t care

if you’re Buddhist,

if you’re Muslim,

if you’re Jewish,

if you’re Catholic,

if you’re Christian,

if you’re Hindu,

if you’re Sikh,

if you’re Druze,

if you’re Rastafarian

or if you’re Gnostic;

everyone is my valentine.

Love

is my newly-formed religion

I follow

and practice

on a daily basis.
