~
edging toward oblivion, the nether slyly
calls, a siren softly
loosing these base desires
in us all, to rise, to
press our heels against red-rimmed burning lashes,
solar syncopations turning noon-day light to near pitch blackness, with
ever glow in rings of fire, obscuring our downfall.

Fter reading this I think I can see the ring of the eclipse on the back of my eyelids... without ever having physically seen it. Strange sensation tbh!
Like Paul, I also missed this one. Fabulous work, my friend.
oooh so glad you made your pillar post...completely missed this one. Another brilliant entry and the press our heels line is amazing. Great work, pal. findamn
The picture immediately made me think of Mordor for some reason Heather- maybe the black mountains and fiery ring! This taps into an almost otherworldly feel, especially with words like siren and nether. "red-rimmed burning lashes"- I love the imagery of this line but what does that bit mean about to press our heels?
"press our heels against red-rimmed burning lashes" Whoaaa that line! It's my favourite! Your Acrostic was so stunning. Loved it eo much!
Magnificient! 😍 So, so beautiful, with a touch of sadness at the end 🥹
Very ethereal and contemplative! Nicely done, Heather!
"loosing those base desires" brilliant!
Cool
I do like this line' 'press our heels against red-rimmed burning lashes,' Well done and good luck
Loving your eclipse nature poem!!! 💕❤️❤️
As with a solar eclipse, could it be that those who deign to see the light might never see again should they succeed? And thus, their victory celebration itself becomes their downfall.
Gotta toss that ring... ;)
