ever after

1940s

moaning midnights

sultry seclusion

sibylline seduction

______

1950s

unexpected news

whirlwind wedding

Washington by bus

_____

1960s

moved mountains

caught you making moves

moved you to the guest house

_____

1970s

moving on up

alone again, naturally

what’s done is done

_____

1980s

conditional surrender

seated side by side, cushioned

nothing coming between us now

_____

1990s

our adult children gather

wipe dust off picture frames

cobble fables and fairytales

_____

I used to be in your corner

you used to fight for me

round after round we'd go, waiting for bells to ring

_____
