- Bottlenecked Yearnings

We met in the village
as dusk settled in
Frogs leaping and bounding
a symphony within
Honeysuckle's buds
so slender and late
Yearning to bloom
but alas, it's too late
~~~
Like bottlenecks
the path ahead seems unclear
Yet the village in June
its fragrance so dear
You, with skilled hands
carved flowers so fair
Adorning the shackles
that I had to bear
~~~
These flowers, though lovely
cannot be bestowed
Bound by the chains
that my freedom erode
But in this moment
amidst nature's embrace
I find solace and peace
in this quiet place
~~~
The village, a haven
where time seems to halt
Offering respite
from life's heavy assault
Here, in this sanctuary
my soul can take wing
As I dream of the freedom
that tomorrow may bring
