Dragons used to roam

Before Existence Dawned

With their breath they breathed in change

They made Creation Spawn

By Tengyart on Unsplash

Dragons carved the Nothing

With their very wings

Their claws, Their tails

Their hide, Their Scales

Brought the Universe into Being

By NASA on Unsplash

They Enclosed the Infinite

That’s Still Expanding

Fractal Patterns are so Grand

Their Construction was so Demanding

By Pawel Czerwinski on Unsplash

Dragons formed the Stars

To make Life itself Hatch

Their breath formed elements from its atoms

To their essence Life did Latch

By Daniel Olah on Unsplash

The ashes from the stars

Their dust then formed the Planets

The ashes of the stars

Combined When Gravity Did Grant It

By Aman Pal on Unsplash

The planets formed from Dragon’s Smoke

Were cinders in the dark

Not heavy enough to become Suns

So something else did Spark

By Daniel Olah on Unsplash

The dust did settle

The planets purged

All their toxic plumes

Somewhere in their deep, dark, trenches

Life began to bloom

By Sangharsh Lohakare on Unsplash

Then dragons descended upon the planets

And like their stars, Did shine

Different from all Life Itself

The Dragons were Divine

By Sei on Unsplash

Then when life emerged

Crawling from the seas

Eons passed

Algae to Grass

Surging from the brine

Eventually rose

Free of Thought

The Power of Mankind

By visuals on Unsplash

Like the dragons they too did roam

And scoured o’er all the Earth

They subjugated the Land

Its creatures

Its beings

Their place of birth

By Tucker Monticelli on Unsplash

Dragons had some Children then

That ruled amongst Mankind

Yet to one another

Eyes were never turned blind

By Jade Lee on Unsplash

The Dragons took all kinds of forms

They dominated the landscape

Yet, Man was closing in behind them

This Intelligent Kind of Great Ape

By Rabah Al Shammary on Unsplash

The Dragons swam the seas

Taking to its depths

Never needing to Surface

Never Needing a Breath

Their wings turned to fins

To brave the very waves

Their wings turned to fins

Conquered the Waters there to swim

By Sarah Lee on Unsplash

The Dragons buried down

Deep Below the Crust

They lost their legs

And too their wings

Slithered in molten Dust

By USGS on Unsplash

The Dragons of the land

Turned their wings to limbs

They crawled and climbed

They walked and Traipsed

Over every field and mountain they could find

By Kalen Emsley on Unsplash

The dragons in the skies

Saw many wond’rous things

Yet they saw the struggle

With the Human Beings

By Camerauthor Photos on Unsplash

The Dragon Spawn on Earth

Were collected in tow

Their parents scooped them up

Said “It’s time to go.”

By Samuel PASTEUR-FOSSE on Unsplash

Yet, the Humans that were Dragons

In Mind and Soul and Heart

Became forever broken

Now that We’re apart

By Greg Rakozy on Unsplash

When the Dragons Left

They continued to Beget

Universes Akin

Infinitely Boardering One Another

Like mere layers of Skin

By Christian Liebel on Unsplash

When the Dragons Left

They left their signs for us in the Sky

They left behind, thoughts of love so kind

They did more than just say “Bye.”

By Guillermo Ferla on Unsplash

The Dragons left Our Cosmos

But they will Return

When there’s Appreciation

That We’ve Truly Learned

By Blake Verdoorn on Unsplash

The Dragons Will Return

But Until Then

Stay Strong

Grow Kind

You’re Smart

Become Wise

Then We’ll See You

Again

Not so sure of the intelligence of we great apes though. Really well done.

I see you formed your own universe made of dragon god-ness. Very unique world you have created here. Well worth the vision, what a return that will be.

"This Intelligent Kind of Great Ape." I literally laughed out loud at this line. I so can't wait for the dragons to return! I want them to obliterate us all hehehhehe

  • Great challenge entry and some amazing images
