A poem’s both primary and ultimate aims are to kindle many different thoughts in the reader. It’s just like how an artist’s painting can provoke different emotions in different people. Some of you may find the poem below to be inspiring, others may find it sympathizing or even satirical. It is totally dependent on the reader’s perception of my words. For those who find it satirical, please know that I am neither an advocate of feminism nor a critic. I am a neutral person by all means. Please understand that I am well aware that women are equally capable or more capable than men in all areas. I’ve seen that in my mother, other women in my family, and my kith and kin. Please read the poem with an open mind. Thank you.

Feminism is the buzzword on women’s lips,

They talk about it even between their coffee sips,

Good for them….. you wink,

They can now do everything that they think.

..........

They like to work as hard as men,

Until the sun goes down, Amen!

They hold high positions everywhere,

To show men that they should better beware,

Of their skills in software and hardware.

.......

With work and position comes remuneration,

That keeps feeding their determination.

.........

Do they all really enjoy these novelties?

Of beating themselves up until it wears out their inner and outer beauties,

Of running round the clock, getting abused by male strangers devoid of any manly qualities,

Of chasing wild dreams coz their peers do the same… coz everyone of their kind does the same,

Of having to deal with all this stress, all the hustle, and bustle both at home and at work, it’s a shame.

..........

Men and kids are totally clueless,

About their lady’s constant distress,

For divorces have become as easy as buying a dress,

Isn’t it high time these all be addressed?

.........

No… they are not to be blamed,

or named or shamed,

But blame them all,

The big brands, the media, the celebrities,

The music labels and the few female rebels gone out of their senses,

It’s them,

It’s all of them who need to stop all of this,

They’ve done this to our women,

To sell products.. to bathe in bucks,

To fuel their capitalistic, political, and materialistic needs,

It’s them… blame all of them…,

Not our mothers, sisters, girlfriends, and wives,

They’re innocent… and ignorant,

Dancing to the tunes of delusion and illusion,

They are stuck and suffocating in the avalanche of a fruitless mission,

Addicted to the beautiful drug of financial stability,

And to the venom of money-spitting and soul-crushing corporate futility,

Too bad, we, men, can only be passive observers of our women’s adversity.

..........

Poor women,

Don’t blame them,

For Feminism that’s on their lips like an anthem.
