A Poem Using the Title of Every Challenge I’ve Entered Thus Far

Dear Fellow Vocal Writers,

Life is a challenge to be sure

For all of those reading in their car

That twitter and twatter

Flashing and splashing their valiant talent

Ink drifting across the brain

Like the wind pushing dew On Foggy Waters

Every new story is a Little Black Book waiting to be told

Whether it’s a Doomsday Diary

Or a peak behind Behind the Last Window

Vocal challenges us to be better writers

To Get Comfortable with the Uncommon communion of sharing creative works

While others twerk to express themselves

Hopefully one day we can grace your bookshelves

Blushing in the Full Moon night

As someone tells us how much they like what we write

Like a child asked to their first Homecoming

But they don’t see the struggle and strife

But it’s just A Day in the Life

Hoping one day to be in one’s Fan(dom) Favorite

What separates you from the herd?

Was it finishing well in The Vocal+ Fiction Awards

Every reader is a Time Traveler

But they’re not there After the Parade

Enraptured by The Moment of Freedom

Of telling our tale

But what if the next one doesn’t do as well?

The potential of failure keeps some afraid

Someone staring at you From Across the Room

As you work on your next Fantasy Prologue

Is this character a wizard or a demigod?

But there’s also New Worlds to discover

As we support each other

On Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram

We support each other whether it’s a mystery

Or a Tautogram

We write, write, write

Write to the bone

But make it your own

Another challenge

Here we go again
