his arms grew into
seaweed, sinking deeply down
becoming silt, and
taking root, and now
ebbing bubbles, oxygen
and shards of morning
refract his being,
piercing waves he created --
the ripple effect
muddling news of
boats with rudders pointing toward
some place that once felt
safe, secure, and real,
solid as earth giving way
beneath feet, anchored
