I wish I could turn over this paper
And sketch a masterpiece
Draw anything
A plane, a skyline, a tiger
Lay my hand flat or to the side
Looking all cool
And let my pencil do the work
Little wisps and big bold strokes
Coming together in a slice of beauty
I could tape to my wall
But I can only draw trees, grass,
And geometric shapes
So instead I turn over the page
And write
The paper demands to be filled
And I must answer the call
Filling from my mind
And sometimes my soul
I don't always know what I'll see
And sometimes you don't either
