It's been said that people that hate cats will come back as mice in their next life.
The Girl and Her Pets
Shortly after we moved into our long awaited new home, my daughter started asking for a pet, so I thought we'd get a parakeet or two; it turns out, she didn't want birds or dogs; she wanted a kitten. I'd preferred dogs, but we began looking for kittens locally and at nearby Animal Shelters with no luck.

You Don't Deserve To Know Me
Oh. Hello. My name is inconsequential to you as I will never stoop so low as to respond no matter what you call me. However, the only human I actually care for uses the name Amy when seeking my glorious attention. I was told you were interested in learning about my life. A wise choice as I am the most interesting cat in the world. But, you already know that. That is why you are here. You wish to gain superior knowledge from the fountain of wisdom that is me. Where should I begin? Well, I had spent three years in and out of shelters when my current humans found me. I’m quite glad they did, to be honest. Shelters are awful places. Have you seen the strays that frequent those establishments? Certainly no place for an elegant and well-mannered feline such as myself. I was only ever there because I had to escape from all my other humans. I won’t get into why. It just wouldn’t be proper to discuss such matters.

When I was younger, I had a majorly bad allergy dealing with cats — but I loved them. In fact, I was obsessed with them. (I still am, so I like to think of my childhood as a moment of "Crazy Cat Lady" training time.) I wanted a cat so badly, but unfortunately, my allergies prevented it until my parents finally caved in.

I am an owner of a cat called Dante (which my vet tells me is quite a common name for a cat…who knew?!). Well I say I am the owner, however I’m pretty sure Dante owns me. He has managed to manipulate all possible emotions to make me do anything for him. I even want him at my wedding (although my sister says this is a step too far).

Most people barely know about regular cat breeds — and have no idea that exotic cat breeds even exist. The truth is that many cat breeds are extremely rare, or are mixed with cats that are found in the jungle.

Most people know a little bit about dog breeds. They can typically tell you what are the most popular dog breeds for families, which dog breeds are best for guarding locations, and which dog breeds shed the most. But, when it comes to cats, it's a totally different story.

It was sometime between May and June. My boyfriend, at the time, surprised me with the notion to get a kitten. He told me to really think about what kind of cat I wanted since I could only get one. I've had so many cats throughout my entire life. So, this time I really thought about it. I made up my mind with getting an all grey cat. I've never had an all grey cat, and I always thought they were so pretty. I looked long and hard for a kitten that was all grey. I even went to craigslist—before it was scary. And, right there in a post, I saw ALL GREY CATS. So, I rush to get a hold of the woman that posted it. She agreed to meet with me. It wasn't far at all. Maybe 10–15 minutes away from my home. I was so excited!
Why You Shouldn't Declaw Your Cat
If you own a cat, odds are at least one piece of your furniture has suffered the price of being used as a personal scratching post. Many people consider declawing their furry friend to protect their furniture, but in this article I am going to explain why that can negatively affect your cat, as well as list some alternatives to declawing.
Black Cats
Odds are you've seen at least one black cat in your life, but was that cat fully black? A lot of the "black" cats you see today have white spots or patches on their fur, usually the chest or stomach. Why is that? To explain we are going to have to take a small trip back in time.
My First Cat
I remember getting my first cat when I was about four or five years old. I don't remember where my mom got it, or if someone gave it to her, but I was happy to have a pet I could play with; we already had at least one dog, but I don't remember ever playing with them even though one would beg for food during meals in our tiny kitchen; my mom or anyone else would throw scraps of tortilla or even a whole tortilla out the kitchen for the dog(s) to go eat outside. We didn't know to treat pets the way people do in the United States.

Thank you for your time and allowing me to introduce myself to you. My name is "Omar." As you can see from my portrait, I am a feline of quality breeding, Tonkinese in fact, who has been used to the good things in life, lost them, and is slowly recovering them. Life has not always been kind to me. Before I settled into my current home I was, as George Orwell said about Paris, "down and out." I was not in Paris but in Bournemouth where I was rescued from my homeless plight by a voluntary organisation. They gave me refuge for a few days and then settled me into the place that I now call "home" here on the edge of The New Forest. I share my home with one other feline and two members of the servant species.

About a year ago, I became a boarder in a house with three cats. It isn't that I actively dislike cats; I am merely indifferent towards them, but I've had to live with the consequences of moving into what used to be Himeji's room— the young girl pictured above.
