Butterflies don’t know the color of their wings, but human eyes know beautiful it is. Likewise, you don’t know how good you are, but others can see that you are special. Jason Zhang

A Google search revealed this simple yet lovely two-word phrase: “soul’s cathedral.” What is this magnificent cathedral? A cathedral even the most famous architect could not design. It is your soul’s temple. It's your innate and beautiful body.

Are you tempted to believe the glossy adverts prompting for a ‘so-called’ perfect body? Well, let me tell you, there is no such thing. Just like a tumbleweed being tossed and blown in a dust storm. Beautiful yes oh yes. Perfect, perhaps not. A few twigs are missing here and there. A few more twisted and bent. This tumbleweed is still achieving its purpose. Spreading its seeds for the next generation of imperfect, exquisitely beautiful tumbleweeds.

Am I exaggerating when I confirm your innate beauty? You are wonderfully and magnificently beautiful. I have never met you. So you are probably rolling your eyes right now. Thinking to yourself what right has Diane to suggest I am beautiful? Because you are a person, right? Therefore, you are indeed wonderful, magnificent and beautiful. Not perfection, none of us are. You are working towards perfection each day. This is why you are wonderful, beautiful, etc.

When your beloved dog walks into your home after rolling in the mud. All filthy, smelly and wagging her tail wildly. She is no longer suitable for a front cover image of a pedigree pooch magazine. You may yell at her a little for her muddy pawprints on your hallway rug. Is she still beautiful? Well, yes of course she is.

When her muddy pawprints are forgiven. After a dog bath is shared. She again is the most beautiful dog in the whole wide world. If you could read her mind. Her heart would be speaking to your heart. Yes, I am beautiful, wonderful, magnificent and the most beautiful dog in the world. Why, because you are my precious mistress and you love me.

This is all the confirmation you too need. You are loved. This deep heart to heart connection speaks of your beauty. This is not the style of beauty you find in a fashion magazine. It is far more valuable than this two-dimensional beauty.

Your beauty speaks of trust built up over much time between family and friends. Even soap operas on television scream about the value of trust in all relationships. Your friends and family turn to you in times of extreme joy and sorrow. They have complete confidence in you. Knowing words spoken to you will be held close to your heart. You do not gossip. This simply is not who you are.

When you speak to people whom you love it is with honesty, tenderness and compassion. A few tissues are handy for tears of joy and sadness when needed. A gentle pat on the hand only when required and offers no offence.

My father had many hilarious tales. “Don’t look in the mirror more than 7 times a day, you may see the devil.” I think he was warning me of vanity.

Well, I am saying go ahead! Take a nice long look at who you truly are. A person with a tender and compassionate heart. You are the person who friends and family love to share their special times with. In other words, they will confirm for you that you are beautiful, truly beautiful.

Now, we are going to make your life even more beautiful. Yes, this is possible!

I am going to ask you to start finding the special things about yourself that you like. Don’t be shy now. Remember just how beautiful you truly are. I am not speaking about only your physical features.

Though perhaps you have had someone special comment on how stunning your eyes are?? Maybe you find that you laugh easily and often. What is it they say about laughter? Oh yes, that’s it, laughter is contagious!

Now, this may be a nice way to start each new day. Find as many things as you can that are beautiful and unique about yourself.

This is very important. So please take a little longer here. Consider how other people feel when interacting with you. Now I am not only speaking of people you love and who are close to you. But work colleagues, next-door neighbors and even complete strangers.

I love meeting new people. This is when and where the real me shines through. I always say hello as I pass people busily going about their busyness. Whether they respond is completely their choice.

But when they stop for a chat, well, that simply makes my day!

When you pass strangers, is there a gentle and warm smile on your face to brighten their day? When a young child falls off her pushbike and scrapes her knee. Do you pop over and offer a few soothing words of comfort? Better than any band-aid in my opinion.

Now I am going to tell you a secret. You carry with you everywhere you go a light that shines on others. Trust me, the people your light shines on will feel happier. This light is your personality — your beauty.

Now have you considered why a Rainbow is so beautiful yet so complex? A rainbow is the splitting up of white light from our life-giving Sun into its spectrum by millions and millions of raindrops. You have to be standing in exactly the right spot to view this vision of wonder. A rainbow may be fleeting. But its exquisite beauty lingers in your memory.

You are as intricate as a rainbow. You are made up of many complex pieces. Each is unique to you. Each piece builds to the beautiful person you are. We humans can only see a few of the colours in a rainbow. Your loved ones can only see a little of who you really are.

It is you who knows your beauty, worth and value of you. This is why you dedicate each day to treating others with respect, compassion, kindness and love.

I had a favorite television series when I was a teenager, “Stairway to Heaven”, starring Michael Landen. This series depicted two angels helping different strangers in each episode.

  • Let your beauty shine as the angel you can be! Then you will look like an angel too! Wouldn’t that be something?
  • Do you remember the movie: “Pass It Forward”?
  • Can we make a pact here?
  • Let us help people we meet in little ways each day!
  • We’ll find ourselves feeling more beautiful the more we do it!
