Why Not Believe?

Maybe kids had it right?

By Magellan MysticsPublished 3 years ago 4 min read
Do you still blow dandilion seeds and make wishes?

Today, we want to ask you a question: What does it hurt to believe? And, more specifically, what does it hurt to remind yourself of a time when you did believe?

As we grow older, we often lose touch with that innocent, childlike sense of belief. We become jaded, cynical, and simply tired of the world around us. Given the state of our current world, it's easy to see why. It can be challenging to believe that things will ever change, or that we'll ever experience stability or improvement. Unfortunately, much of what we want to see in the world won't happen without some tough actions and a lot of time.

But, your inner world is different from the outside world. It's your internal monologue, your moral compass, the world you retreat to when the real world isn't quite where you want to be. So, we ask again: What does it hurt to believe in a little whimsy or in yourself, in this world that you get to create?

Perhaps you want to talk to the fairies in your garden and ask them to help you keep your plants alive and happy. What does it hurt to try? If your plants thrive, that's fantastic! If they don't, at least you enjoyed the journey and made it a little more magical.

As children, much of what we believed in was introduced to us by our parents. They wanted to make our world a little nicer, a little more magical. But now that we're adults, we don't have someone telling us stories to help us find the fun in life anymore. It's up to us to create that magic and whimsy on our own.

Yes, the destination of our journey will arrive one way or another, but why not make the journey itself a little more magical and enjoyable? Instead of simply going through the motions and living day by day, we can choose to add a little bit of magic and wonder to our lives.

So, how can we bring that sense of whimsy and belief back into our lives? Here are a few ideas to get you started:

-Create a vision board: A vision board is a powerful tool that can help you visualize and manifest your dreams and goals. It's essentially a collection of images and words that represent what you want to achieve or experience. By creating a vision board, you can tap into that childlike sense of wonder and belief in the possibility of achieving your dreams.

-Connect with nature: Spending time in nature can be incredibly restorative and rejuvenating. Whether you take a walk in the park, go for a hike in the woods, or simply sit and observe the world around you, connecting with nature can help you feel more grounded and connected to the world.

-Embrace your inner child: Remember the activities that brought you joy as a child, and try to incorporate them into your life again. Whether it's coloring, playing with Legos, or building a fort, engaging in playful activities can help you feel more carefree and joyful.

-Practice gratitude: Focusing on the things that we're grateful for can help us feel more optimistic and hopeful. Make a habit of writing down three things you're grateful for each day, or simply take a moment to reflect on the good things in your life.

-Set intentions: Setting intentions is a powerful way to focus your energy and attention on what you want to achieve or experience. Whether it's a daily intention, a weekly intention, or a long-term intention, setting goals and visualizing their achievement can help you tap into that sense of belief and possibility.

Believing in something doesn't mean ignoring the harsh realities of the world or becoming naive. It simply means allowing ourselves to see the beauty and magic in everyday life, to find joy in the small things, and to have hope for the future. It means choosing to focus on the positive rather than the negative, and to approach challenges with a sense of wonder and curiosity rather than defeatism.

In a world that can often feel overwhelming and disheartening, taking the time to believe in something can be a powerful act of self-care. It can help us stay grounded, centered, and connected to ourselves and others. It can remind us that we are not alone, and that there is always hope, even in the darkest of times.

So, the next time you feel yourself getting caught up in the chaos and uncertainty of the world around you, take a moment to pause, breathe, and believe. Believe in yourself, in the power of your dreams, and in the magic of the world around you. Trust that the journey you're on, no matter how challenging or difficult it may seem, is leading you exactly where you need to be. And most importantly, never forget that you are capable of creating your own magic, of finding your own whimsy, and of living a life that is full of joy and wonder.

In conclusion, believing in something, whether it's a childhood memory, a fairytale, or simply the power of your own dreams, can be a powerful tool for finding joy, hope, and magic in everyday life. It's not about ignoring the challenges of the world or becoming naive, but rather about choosing to focus on the positive, approaching challenges with wonder and curiosity, and staying connected to ourselves and others. So, take a moment to believe, to find your own magic, and to live a life that is full of joy and wonder. You deserve it.
