Why I Choose to be a Solo Cleaner

Don't Underestimate the Rewards!

Why I choose to be a solo cleaner.

After 17 years of cleaning, whilst raising my 4 children and running a family company that had nothing to do with cleaning, I've been asked why I've never built a team or hired employees. And honestly? There are a lot of reasons I choose to stay solo.

My Clients Get Consistency

They know exactly who is walking through their door and exactly what kind of clean they're going to get. Same cleaner. Same standards. Same attention to detail.

I Only Have to Depend on Myself

I don't have to worry about whether someone is going to show up on time, call out, or leave me scrambling to cover a clean. If something needs to get done, it's on me.

I Don't Have to Check Behind Anymore

I'm extremely particular about my work. I would probably spend half my time going back through houses making sure everything was done the way I wanted it done. Being solo means, I know exactly what was cleaned and how it was cleaned.

I Build Real Relationships with My Clients

This is probably one of my favourite parts. I genuinely enjoy getting to know people. I've watched families grow and have gotten to know some pretty amazing people over the years.

I Especially Love My Elderly Clients

I've learnt so much just by listening to their stories and experiences. Sometimes the social part of this job means just as much to me as the cleaning.

I Get to Help People When They're Overwhelmed

Illness, kids, work, aging, grief, mental health, life... there are so many reasons a home can get away from someone. Being able to walk in without judgment and take one thing off their plate is incredibly rewarding.

There's a Different Level of Trust

People are letting me into one of their most personal spaces, their home. I don't take that lightly. My clients aren't wondering which employee will show up this week. It's me!

I Have Complete Control Over the Quality of My Work

If my name is attached to it, I want to know it was done to my standards. The good, the bad, the mistakes. It's all mine to own.

I Like The Independence

I make my schedule, choose the jobs that are right for me, decide how I clean, and run my business in a way that fits my life.

Would there be days when have employees would be really nice? Absolutely. Especially halfway through a giant move-out clean with my entire body is questioning my career choices.

But bigger doesn't always mean better.

I never started cleaning because I wanted to build a huge company. I enjoy the personal side of this business, the relationships, the trust, the independence, and knowing that when someone hires me, they're getting me!

And for now, that's exactly the kind of business I want.

CONCLUSION

I love the cleaning business for many reasons, but the most significant one is the satisfaction that comes from transforming a dirty, cluttered space into a clean and organized one. There is something incredibly rewarding about seeing the immediate results of your hard work and knowing that you have made a positive impact on someone's life.

Cleaning may not be the most glamorous job, but it is essential for maintaining a healthy and happy living environment. A clean home or office can improve productivity, reduce stress, and promote a sense of well-being. Knowing that I am helping people achieve these benefits through my work is incredibly fulfilling.

I also love the cleaning business because it offers a unique opportunity to connect with people.
