Why do we often get good ideas in the shower? Have you ever wondered? I do not know about you, but I have had some really brilliant ideas while scrubbing up and I always wonder why. I always find that my best ideas come in the shower. If a problem has been bothering me all day, or if I lack inspiration, a shower almost always helps. Well, there is actually a reason for this!

The science of creativity explains that when we are in the shower, we do not really think too hard about what we are doing, which gives our minds the freedom to come up with new ideas. When we are at work or hanging out with friends, we are usually too focused on what is going on around us to really let our creativity flow. Interestingly, studies have shown that more creative people tend to be more easily distracted, which is probably why I am always distracted during conversations with my friends, family or colleagues. But in the shower, we are doing a routine activity that does not require much thought, which gives our minds the space to wander and come up with great ideas.

When we feel all worked up and distracted, it is usually because part of us is super vigilant. This can make us feel completely exhausted, or like we just need to scroll through some social media or something to distract ourselves for a bit. It is like our thoughts are all over the place and we can not make any progress on the cool ideas we were starting to think about. Basically, our minds are always working, but when we are in the shower, there is less stuff to distract us from thinking clearly. We are not supposed to be thinking all the time, but now we can think freely and boldly. There is just enough going on to keep our minds busy, but not too much to stop us being creative.

Our society values good ideas, but we do not really understand why it is so hard to come up with them. The truth is that geniuses are no different from the rest of us, they just do not let their fears and prejudices get in the way of their thinking. In a perfect world, we would be more creative about where and how we think. Some kind of distraction is usually what stops us thinking well, but taking a shower in the morning, during the day or before going to bed can help us get in touch with our deeper selves and overcome our fears.

But let's face it, sometimes we are just too overwhelmed to think straight. Our minds are all over the place and we just need a break. That is where the shower comes in. It is the perfect place to chill out and reflect on life. Our minds are not on high alert and we are not trying to solve any big problems. The hot water and steam help us relax and forget about all the craziness going on around us. We are just concentrating on getting clean and feeling refreshed. And sometimes, in the middle of it all, we start to have these little epiphanies about what we really want out of life and what we should do next. It is actually pretty cool if you think about it, do not you agree?

So if you have ever had a crazy idea in the shower, do not dismiss it! It could be the start of something marvellous.

Have a great day and keep those creative ideas flowing!
