Have you ever wondered why so many people can succeed at things that look impossible? This is something that used to amaze me. How did Jay Z go from a drug dealer to partying with Warren Buffett? How did Barack Obama become the President of the United States of America? How did Oprah achieve what she did, when she did, in the field in which she was working?

They all learned how to use the power of focused thought.

Focusing on things for a period of time can be challenging. Try sitting still in a quiet place for 20 minutes while concentrating on a single picture in your mind, without letting it wander to other images or thoughts. Try holding a single image in your mind for five minutes. Can you do it without thinking about anything else?

It is not so easy to do. Now, imagine what it is like to have nothing but an image of a life that is completely different from the life you are living right now. Imagine living a life that seems impossible to even allow yourself to imagine. This is what people who succeed at things that seem impossible are able to do.

But how are they able to use the power of focused thought to attract the life they deserve?

It is by using this technique: becoming passionate about what they are thinking about, becoming completely focused on having that thing they are thinking about, and allowing themselves to believe that they will find a way to have it.

To use the power of focused thought, you will need to retrain your brain, change your mindset, and create the success you want to experience in your mind first. This experience needs to live in your mind before it can live in your reality.

The Art of Controlled Thought

We do this by practicing controlling our thoughts. You will need to start with an image you want to have or experience. If you want to be rich, you will need an image of what "rich" is to you. It is best that you start with a physical image that you can study or go to a place where you can touch and feel the item you want to have or experience.

Now, you will need to practice thinking about it. In a quiet place, you are going to sit in a comfortable position. Just sit with your eyes closed and see the image. Focus on the image and see the details of it. Inspect the image to make sure it is exactly like you want to see it. Keep that image in your thoughts without thinking about anything else.

The first time you do this, you will probably only be able to think about the image for a few seconds before other thoughts come into your mind. You may bounce back and forth from the image to other things. This is normal. The goal is to simply focus on the image for a duration of time, working your way up to 20 minutes. The more you can think about this one image, the more you can control your thoughts. One of the reasons people find it so hard to be successful is because they start to focus on many different goals at the same time.

It is very tempting to jump from goal to goal, but if you don’t become disciplined in thinking about this one image, it will be very hard to use this technique when it comes to chasing big goals.

Understanding how to use the power of focused thought will allow you to control what you experience in life to a greater degree.
