How do you stay ahead in a game that is constantly changing?

This seems to be one of the biggest questions that people ask in business.

Technology changes.

Trends change.

Even those who are recognized change.

One thing that many people seem to miss...

Is that those you hear about being "the best"...

Often are not truly the best.

Frequently, they are one of two things...

Those who were recognized in the past but have been resting on their laurels...

Or...

Those who are set up to be overnight sensations that disappear.

There are many people who I have seen within both of these...

People who are sought as "the best" but have not added anything relevant to their industries for over 10 years...

As well as people who I heard about all the time and now people have forgotten they existed...

Literally.

But the question becomes...

If all of these things change...

How are we to stay ahead of the game?

The solution is both easier and more difficult to accomplish...

You need to stick near those who are truly the best...

Those on the path to Sageship.

Here is the challenge...

Those who are true Sages of their industry...

Are few and far between.

Not only do they need to be undeniable masters of what they are currently doing...

But they also need to be actively shaping the future.

Where many people get lost in this...

Is they follow people who pop up and "appear" to be the future...

But those they are following are not really developing the future...

Not truly...

Maybe they have "something" that touches on the future...

But they lack either deep expertise or consistently working to mold the future...

Or both.

We have already seen this with all the "AI gurus" who have dropped off the face of the earth.

When it comes to Sages...

Sometimes they are not the ones you hear about every single day...

Because they are too deeply engrossed in the work that they do and are working toward.

One of the challenges...

Is that when you become known for something...

Many people become locked into that thing and then stop actively seeking the future.

The success in that thing itself becomes a trap, preventing them from moving into the future.

But the Sage is usually obsessed with not only the now, but also the future.

Now...

This is why it becomes so important to stick near those on the path to Sageship...

They are the ones who are actively either paying attention for change...

Or are directly making the changes.

Which means...

They are also the ones who are most ready for change...

And are the fastest to adapt...

In ways that actually work.

That is an important distinction.

Many people may be the "first" to do something...

But being the first means nothing if there is no deep value in what is pushed.

A Sage may not always be the "first"...

But they are nearly always the first to do it at an excellent level that makes real impact.

That is why it becomes important to stick near the Sage...

They will not jump into something valueless or trendy...

Because they know the ins and outs of what they do so well that they can foresee what will not actually work...

Or how things being utilized are not effective, or how they are missing the mark in important ways.

A Sage can see through the possibilities because they are so deeply in tune with what they do and who they are doing their work for.

But further...

They are usually the ones who see what actually needs to be done for things to work in reality.

So...

If you stick close to those who are truly Sages...

You will be right at the forefront of whatever the future holds...

And that puts you at a strategic advantage.

While others are chasing the latest trends and wasting time and resources on things that will not pan out...

You can find those who are Sages doing work alongside what you do or that benefits what you do...

(Because I'm assuming your goal is to be a Sage in the specific work you do instead of a follower)...

And when they adapt in meaningful ways...

It positions you to adapt what you do in meaningful ways so that you stay at the top of what is possible.

For instance...

I am not a techy kind of person myself...

I am not a master at social media and how to navigate these different systems in meaningful ways...

I surely do not care all that much for how most people are using AI (Not that I am inherently against AI as a product, just the stupidity in how most attempt to use AI).

These are just not my personal strong suits.

I work much better directly with people and looking at what is helping or preventing them from attaining Sageship in their own lives.

When it comes to tech and social media...

There is a team of Sages that I follow very closely...

And they have just figured out how to utilize AI with their tech and social media work...

Effectively.

That is a high compliment from me, because in my opinion...

Most people on social media are morons...

Few people have any clue as to what makes AI a valuable tool (including in the companies that have AI as their only product)...

And most tech around marketing and social media is absolute garbage.

I have been fooled by enough "new game-changing marketing tools" to be able to see the patterns now in what is just good marketing-speak but lacks substance.

But...

Because I actually pay attention to these Sages that have been extremely effective with tech and social media...

I now have access to an AI tool that is actually worth using.

I do not use AI in any of my articles.

Every article is written 100% by my hand because there is value for me in writing these pieces.

But I have been waiting for a good way to utilize AI in other aspects of my work since AI started to become mainstream...

And it is only now, about 4 years later, that I see a real use case for my work.

Now...

If I had not been paying attention to these Sages...

I may have been like one of the many individuals who had wasted so much of their time trying to get AI to work for them...

While neglecting vastly more important work that creates real results.

But I did not.

I saw that what was out was not effective for anything I needed...

I did work that kept my business priorities going forward...

Creating real impact in what I have done...

While others burned themselves out trying to do ineffective things...

Or destroyed their careers using technology to speed up terrible work...

Creating a tsunami of bad reputation for them.

I waited on AI...

Because I could not see how it was going to work...

And I did not have the strengths to do what I would need it to do...

But...

I paid close attention to those who do have those strengths...

Who have been active in trying to get it to work right...

And now I finally have a tool that does something truly valuable in my work...

Already getting great results...

Because I stuck near individuals who are truly the best at what they do.

When you surround yourself with individuals who are truly Sages in what they do...

You can gain tremendous benefits and move vastly more quickly in life.

The key...

Is to make sure that those you are following are truly the best...

Not just in name...

But in deed.
