Talking about goals, can we achieve them without willpower?

The answer is no.

You can make the difficulties of your goals as easy as possible, but you will still need willpower. Even if it’s just a little bit, we will always require willpower.

When we want to plan to achieve our goals or break our bad habits, we actually need willpower. We can’t live without it.

So, if you’re complaining that you lack willpower or commitment, the problem is actually with you. You can’t rely on magical power to help you deal with your cravings and the process.

Even the most “perfect plan” will need willpower to be successful.

Procrastinate

Don’t be childish by procrastinating and not taking any action to plan for the future.

The more you talk, the more likely you are to fail. It’s not because talking is not allowed, but because you feel a false sense of accomplishment every time you talk about it.

When you finally try to pursue your goals, you may start to feel demotivated and experience relapses. These bad habits act as the mastermind behind your failures.

What you can do is actually start taking action, even if you anticipate failure in the future. Though you might think you will fail, we can never predict what the future holds.

Maybe you will succeed, and maybe you won’t. We all experience uncertainty. The same applies when you want to pursue a business or a career. They won’t provide you with an exact answer about where you will end up in the future; instead, they present uncertainty about what lies ahead.

Even so, don’t we take the opportunity to pursue business and careers?

Of course not.

You will need to face the burden, the sacrifices, and the disappointments that may come in the future. You can’t rely on a “perfect plan” to avoid taking any action. There are no perfect plans.

The only choice you have is to start taking the first step. The only perfect plan you have is to start taking action. It doesn’t matter if you don’t know how far you’re going to pursue your goals. At least you’re taking action to pursue them.

When you are about to take action, don’t worry about what you need to say to other people. You don’t need to talk about all the plans you are going to pursue. I know that your goals and plans will be perfect, and other people.

Chit chat

You should do it too. Even so, you need to show them first with your own actions toward achieving the plan. Then you can talk about it to help other people.

A plan could be a procrastination tool because you might start to be more afraid of what will come next. You might begin to worry whether the plan you have made is perfect or not.

You may not tolerate mistakes because of the perfect plan that you have created. So, rather than pondering what the future will do with your plan, start taking action with your own plan.

Talking about your plan could affect your success rate. Just like Ryan Holiday says in his book “Ego Is The Enemy,” you can apply this principle every time you want to talk about your plans, your goals, or when you want to take action. Sometimes people don’t want to hear it.

They might listen to you, but at the back, we never know if they are trying to drag us down. On the other hand, people might respect and support you. We never know.

Motivation from within:

Rather than relying on someone else’s support, you better start taking action and showing them your own results.

It’s so fulfilling when you take action, and people don’t know what you are up to. They may either ignore you or become curious about your pursuits. At that time, you may share a little bit about your plan or even throw in a light-hearted joke about your endeavors.

Their reactions to your plan are out of your control. It’s better to focus on what you can control. The more you concentrate on what you can control, the more confident you will feel about success, thus increasing the percentage of your success. However, you can’t solely focus on the result.

Aim high, but focus on the process. Goals are great, and dreaming about what you want to achieve is beautiful. In the end, the most significant memories will be about your journey — the sacrifices and burdens you have overcome will become your greatest memories in the future.

Conclusion

In conclusion, you will need willpower and plans for what you want to achieve in the future. The future is not in our hands, and we can’t control what will happen. Focus on what you can control, increasing your confidence and success. Remember, it’s not just about the end result, but the journey itself. As Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, “The only person you are destined to become is the person you decide to be.” So, aim high and trust in your process, for it is the sacrifices and burdens you overcome that will shape your greatest memories in the future. Keep moving forward with determination and belief in yourself.
