Soul Soothing Journey

I wasn’t sure what to believe, where to go, or whom to be. So, I decided to close my eyes, come alive, and allow my soul to see — to speak, to feel, to listen, to grow — to be free from the daily robotic life of go – go – go.

As my eyes stayed closed, the scent of dirt, hay, and fresh air swept under my nose. The cold wind made the sweater I was wearing extra comfy and caused me to snuggle up with my arms across my chest.

I opened my eyes and noticed I was sitting alone on a moving wagon full of straw. On a dirt trail, passing the autumn trees and bales of hay, I realized that the sound I had been hearing had come from a tractor that was pulling the wagon. I turned to look at the driver and the driver turned to look at me — as if it had been waiting for me to wake up.

“Hello there,” the driver said as it reached toward a cup holder to pick up a dark orange-to-go, ceramic cup, “this is for you.”

I smiled as I looked into the eyes of the driver. It had a pumpkin for a head and bundles of hay for hands. The smile that was returned to me communicated peace and comfort to my soul.

“Thank you.” I responded as I accepted the hot mug from the hands of straw holding it. I turned back around and was instantly swept away by the aroma of pumpkin and cinnamon; and after the first sip, I was consumed by the warmth of the drink. Now it was time to see why my soul wanted to come here.

I noticed horses and cows, blue and gray clouds, bare – rebirthing trees and some still had reddish-brown leaves. I noticed the wagon going off the dirt trail and beginning to ride into the grass. I quickly turned to look at the driver,

“Is everything okay? We’re going off track!” I frantically yelled.

“You’re here for the pumpkins and hay, and for all that you may — experience in life, which won’t be experienced if you stay — on the same narrow path, following the same old roads, you’ll miss out on the adventures of how knowledge unfolds.”

We steadily drove off track and in between 2 ginormous Autumn purple Ash trees. As we drove through, the mesmerizing purple and orange-red leaves began to gently fall into the wagon and onto me. The scent was delightful as I noticed a lavender cinnamon smell. The skies turned purple, and the clouds were golden orange. There were pumpkins with vines for limbs, and hay freely formed into beings with help from the wind. They walked and danced, and one even greeted me by tilting its hat.

The ground shimmered as if crushed gems were scattered, yet the texture seemed to be as if it were made of thick cotton, helping everyone and everything to bounce around with ease and joy. Even the wagon felt as if it were slightly floating.

The pumpkin-headed driver climbed over the tractor and onto the wagon. I quickly looked and noticed a pumpkin using its vines to hold onto the steering wheel. The driver held my hand with its hands of hay and smiled to then begin to say,

“Today you are you, and tomorrow someone new — there is no reason to stay confined to the same old things with nothing new. You owe no-one, you owe nothing, you are free to be free — don’t be afraid to live a life that is truly worth experiencing. You are not one to hurt others, not one to hurt yourself, but you are one to stay confined at the comfort of someone else. Who cares if they don’t think it’s normal? Who cares if they don’t like change? Who cares if they want you to stay on track, and live life as one in the same? Maybe you can introduce them to colors, maybe you can introduce them to light, maybe you can introduce them to the various paths of life. Maybe you can just smile and laugh, maybe others will curiously join in, maybe you’ll provide the freedom for others, that they’ve been so desperately searching. Today you might be an artist, and tomorrow you might be on the clock, the next day you might be royalty, while the day after you might serve others non-stop. Be at peace and listen to your soul, because life is not meant to be confined, each day you are respectful and loving, each day you are humble, and kind — so as you stay a loving soul, allow your experience of life to grow — be whomever you want, and how ever you want, and let your energy to freely flow.”
