Bump in the Road
The blood trickled down into my eyes, clouding my vision as the pain raced through my right leg and forehead.....and grew exponentially as I pulled myself from the wreckage of my 4Runner onto a carpet of saw briars, each one inch long, that tore through my hands, clawed my back like ravenous teeth , and raked skin from the back of my bald head. I tried to stand but the broken bones in my upper right leg screamed, and I collapsed again onto the carpet of briars.

Growing Into Adult Life
Thinking about the future is frightening. Why? Because we have no idea what we will encounter. What will be of our lives in the next 2,5,10, 20 years? The only correct answer is that you will have to wait to find out! This uncertainty becomes particularly pressing for people of certain ages. Right now, the age group that I am able to humbly speak on behalf of is the 20-30 demographic. I am 22 years old and with this age I have started to notice certain differences. As a starting point, things change. They really do. Friendships become scarce. The unconditional love you once received from your family seems to become less available and in turn less comforting. The perception you once had about yourself and others can change dramatically from day to day, week to week, year to year. No matter how long it takes for things to change, one thing is certain, and that is that they will not remain the same as long as we keep living.

Get in loser we're going to heal!
Recovering and healing from childhood trauma is hard, tiring and there are times you just want to give up. From experience, I carried a heavy amount of shame and guilt. Which formed identities within me that weren't true. Having to unlearn and let go of those ideas and identities that I've followed for years is difficult. It's nerve-wracking having to stand up tall and voicing your needs when it's something you've never been good at.

The Fire Within
Okay here's the deal. I'm writing this as a 22 year old Law Graduate, Social Entrepreneur, Sports fanatic, and photography hobbyist. And in each of those aspects of my life (and essentially every other aspect of my life) there is this one part of my personality that I notice carries over each and every time. My competitive nature. For as long as I can remember I have always craved competition in order to drive my own success. I often manufacture that competition by putting headphones on and listening to hip hop artists rap bars about why THEY are running the 'game' and why everyone else needs to get out of the way. I take those words and I conjure up some ridiculous scenario in which I might be pitted against someone else (usually someone I know so it is more relatable) and I leave that person in my wake.

THE JOURNEY BACK TO ME
I have been told over the years how amazing I am. I am not sure I would call myself amazing, but I would call myself a survivor. We all have a past, we have all made choices, and we all have to decide how we react and respond to those. Here is my story.

Why you Should Stop Everything You’re Doing and Start Journaling Now
I love to write. Since I was five years old and knew how to formulate full-blown sentences, albeit elementary, I have kept a journal - although back then I referred to it as a diary. As I matured and "diary" carried an adolescent connotation, I started to "journal."
