Words + Belief = Positive Outcomes
Positive words and what you believe to go along with those words really do make a difference. Think about it for a minute have you ever said something to someone or said something about or to your self and not really felt it. You then figure out later that it doesn't feel right or nothing good has come out of it. This is probably because what you said and what you believed wasn't in alignment with each other.

Thankful Thoughts
Josh Nielsen Thankful Thoughts As Thanksgiving of 2020 winds down, I reflect on all that I am thankful for. I am sure everybody else does this on this day. Maybe people are thankful for new work promotions, newfound love, their health, or simply all the little things that help life seem not so bad and brings joy to their world. Is one day a year really enough to show gratitude though?

For myself, and many others I have spoken to, 2020 has been a year of many new ideas looked-at in the right perspective. I run through the forest, and I breeze past the trees, looking for something to fill my deepest longings, to create meaning in a purposeless-driven world, where purpose has become only about the paycheck. "Now, hand me your heart."

It's The Butterfly's Fault
Many moons ago I was a very depressed and sad person. I couldn't see that life was worth the struggle, though I continued to struggle, nonetheless. One day, while trudging down the street on a hot humid day, thinking about everything that was wrong in my life, I saw a beautiful iridescent blue butterfly. It wasn't native to that part of the country, or possibly even the United States. Stopped cold in my tracks, I watched it flit around me for about 20 minutes until it flew away off into the nearest tree, where I could no longer spot it. I was stunned. It was as if a lightbulb went off in my head. "Wow," I thought. "Maybe life does have something to offer after all!"

The Right Turn
It’s crazy to think about where I was just a year ago and how much life can change in the matter of weeks or even days. It all started on the morning of October 29th, 2019. I woke up early to wait for family to leave for work and school. As soon as that front door closed, I rushed to my closet to pack my luggage. I’d already separated the clothes I wanted to take with me from the ones I didn’t care about a few days before. Everything was carefully planned and prepared for this morning, and as I was shaking with anxiety and the doubts of “am I really doing this”, I brought my suitcase and my guitar to the front door, said goodbye to Fluffy (our cat) and hopped in an Uber. The next day, I’d made it to Malaysia. I’d successfully ran away from a dark place. I had no job or plan and barely any money that’s actually mine. For the next 3 months I would live life as a nomad, hopping from house to house, and almost constantly carrying a backpack on my shoulders. I worked one-off jobs helping out for events just so I could make some money to get me through the next day or two. I chose to walk whenever I could just to save money even if that meant walks that took me over an hour on a road that had no space for pedestrians. I had to survive.

How The Pandemic Gave Me Back My Life
This Thanksgiving will find more empty places at the table. Some are absent because of illness or death, and others are unable to gather because of Covid restrictions. People are struggling to pay bills and buy food. Employment is a daily uncertainty for many as restrictions limit their ability to go to work. Thanksgiving 2020 finds us at a time when giving thanks may be a bit difficult.

A step closer to light
Everything around us is continually teaching us something and bringing us closer to our inner light. Even someone as little as a puppy can teach us some essential lessons in life. I dedicated myself this year to learn from everyone and everything around me. It is beautiful to recognize how everything is connected in a beautiful symphony spun by the ever-mysterious Universe. We are continually getting guidance from the Universe and all we need to do is be still to get it.
