10 Quotes To Help Us Draw On Our Resilience In Order To Succeed
We are all going to face adversity, challenges, trials, rejections, setbacks, and failures, in life, it's inevitable and unavoidable. That's just the way life operates. It seems to delight in throwing these tests at us, and regularly for that matter, but despite this, we completely fail to see that these such times are opportunities for us to learn, grow, develop, and strengthen ourselves mentally. We are too wrapped up in focusing in the negativity of the situation, that we complain, we feel sorry for ourselves, and we feel defeated, when we really should be aiming our focus on seeking out the opportunity of what the adversity is trying to teach us, and using the potential within us, to overcome the situation. Life wants us to act, it wants us to mature and grow, not become stagnant, or stuck in circumstances we don't belong. Perhaps what I just stated may sound silly, but you only need to think back to a time of hardship, adversity, trial, hurt, or failure, in your past, and reflect on how you managed to overcome that, and how you are now feeling mentally and emotionally stronger for the experience, despite how difficult that time was. You got through it, you're on the other side of that adversity now, and you feel stronger as a result. That's resilience! It's the ability to overcome adversities, challenges, trials, and failures, and continue with your journey. That journey may be life itself, or it may be a journey towards achieving your goals. Resilience isn't just about overcoming adversities, and the like, it's also about how we go about overcoming it. Are we proactive in finding a solution? Are we keeping a positive mind? Are we controlling our emotions effectively? Resilience is the ability to face adversity, accept it, and then work on overcoming it, whilst maintaining a positive mindset, a mature attitude, and a determined focus on the goals we wish to achieve in life. Resilience is a key trait to achieving success in life, because it provides us with the strength to progress forward, despite all that challenges, pain, and adversities, we are faced with. Here are 10 quotes to help inspire us to draw on our resilience, so we can find that strength to overcome adversity, and surge to success.

Nose on the Grindstone
Year 2020 has become one of the years for the gravestone. What did that opinion do for your mindset? I wonder if you’ve given grace to this year and yourself the way I’ve learned to this year. The COVID brought out the survival in us all. Naturally we are defensive, not compassionate. Vulnerability is the gift to humanity that’s often taken for granted, by self or another. We all have been through the ringer this year one way or another. My story? I’ve begun a journey that I’ve manifested due to my dreams and aspirations. Music has not only inspired me to compel forward at each high and low, but I have been able to transcend through the goosebump intimacy I’ve allowed through sound. This feeling is recognized through a sense of comfort, especially in times where we aren’t able to distract ourselves as easily.

How To Make New Year's Resolutions That'll Stick
Happy Holidays! It’s Christmas which means that it’s almost New Years. I’m writing this while sitting alone in my empty apartment, precisely 6,366 km away from my family. Now that this year is almost over, I think I can speak for everyone when I say it was a bit grim. You know…pandemic, widespread job loss, online school, death! I admit that I spent much of this year feeling lost and alone and sad and way too introspective. Since this is generally the time of year when people make resolutions, goals and dreams that tend to fall off as soon as February, I thought I’d add to the pot and share a few of my hopes for the new year. And also the tips and tricks that I plan to use to honour them.

Gifting the gifter
This started out as a creative yet obligatory gift to a new friend that gifted me an axolotl bag. I have been in an artistic slump for months now. I had inspired to start painting on a regular basis with my new job that afforded me several days off with the same amount of pay that my previous employment had but alas, 2020... need I really say more? Probably not but in good humor I will inform you that my children have been home since October and the necessary space one (or I) needs to create in has not been available. Mind you I’m talking about head space but that’s a conversation for another time. So absolutly no painting has been happening until now. I had no gift for this new friend, nothing that I thought was cool and personal enough to equal the thoughtful gift she had presented me. I knew her general likes, and with those in mind I set to creating this painting. I am always incrediably nervous when presenting my art to anyone, even as a gift it causes me to be a bundle of nerves. This painting was no different yet I started and finished it in one day. The next day I delivered the gift to her while she was at work. She seemed happy about it but I had to leave in a rush since I was out running errands with my 11 yr old. We didn’t get the chance to talk much before or after the exchange so I found myself wondering if she really liked it or if she was just being polite. Then a few hours later I received this text “ So listen....you were the only person to give me a gift this year....just wanted to say thank you again. So... Thank you!!!” It’s in moments like this that I am reminded that a small act can truly make all the difference to someone else. I never imagined that my gift would be her only one. Now I am glad that I did something unique to her style and used her favourite colors because my unintended good deed but intentional gift made her feel important and loved. The good deed part wasn’t apparent till after the text, before it was giving because I had been gifted. Afterwards the good deed was clear, I had thought of her. Good deeds do not have to be grand gestures or sacrifices, they can be as simple as thinking of another person.

Four Ways to Increase Your Happiness Quotient
I used to have mild anxiety due to negative thinking, a general sense of unhappiness and worry over the future. An oppressive negative mindset was my go-to until one day I was just so sick of myself I decided to do things differently.

Fun to Bring in 2021
Now, I know that the arbitrary tick of the clock that will change 2020 to 2021 will not solve all our problems. The emotional and financial devastation will have a lasting impact, but this can still be a cause for celebration. I don't know a single person who isn't ready to put 2020 behind them, so why not send it out doing something you love?

THE GIFT'S THAT KEEPS ON GIVING ALL YEAR LONG
The best gift you can give is one from the heart. I have given many gifts on Christmas but I try to give everyone a gift that is made with love. I owned a small shop in Big Lake Alaska and had a lot of gifts that I made. I am a professional tie-dyer and gave them away as gifts to my friend and family. I also am a seamstress and have sewn many unique gifts. One of them is a Head Turbin made out of a towel to put on your head when you wash your hair. This saves on towels you have to wash. I also sewed Christmas aprons and gave them away to my friends for Christmas. These handmade gifts are a lot better than buying a gift from the store. My friends and family like them and enjoy having them than a bought gift. This year each of my friends is getting a Diamond Painting done by me. I am framing the paintings so they can hang them on the wall. I like doing paintings because it is a great thing to do to pass your time.
