“Happy New Year!!” Those three words were spoken differently this year, some said it happily, excited to begin a new presidency. Others said it with fear, what if the vaccine doesn’t work, what if we lose thousands more before life becomes normal again. Some didn’t even say it at all, vowing to not say it until life was somewhat normal again. Personally, I brought in my New Year arguing with my roommate over why being unemployed was far better than losing your relatives to COVID-19. It was a drunken argument that left a bitter taste in my mouth, one that brought in my New Year with a new resolution. First of course, get a new roommate that has more compassion towards others, and second to improve myself. I’m not just talking about the typical new year, new me, but rather a deeper more literal approach to it.
Growing up in my family pasta nights were always a big family event. Everyone would gather in the kitchen and participate in making spaghetti, and it is to this day a fond memory of mine. As I got older and started experiment more in the kitchen I found a love for garlic pasta. Several recipes that I had come across were complicated and required multiple steps. Most importantly I found that the recipes didn't allow for much substitution for allergies. So, I got to work on figuring out the perfect simple garlic pasta that is easy to make, and can be universal for all allergies.
It is once again that time of year, where the year ends and a new one begins. With that new year often people decide to set a resolution or goals for themselves to achieve in the new year. Many will choose to focus on their health or their wealth or even travel goals, however at the end of the year many haven't achieved their goals. If you find yourself struggling to achieve your new year goals this quick guide hopefully will help. It will go over how to keep the top three most common new years goals, and also help keep any other goal.
Like many Americans I believe that the death penalty should be questioned on whether or not it should still be used. Also, like many Americans I believe in a fair justice system and what is considered to be fair. With a new President about to enter into office, should the death penalty be one of the first things he abolishes? Or should the death penalty have stricter guidelines on whom deserves it?
Dear Brandon Bernard, I am sorry the justice system failed you, I am sorry that you were given unfair treatment. I am sorry that the politics of the current world viewed you for your race and not as a man, a father. I am sorry that the justice system failed to treat your case the same way they would have had you been white.
(TW: domestic abuse) Waking up at 8:30 A.M. she sits up in bed and sighs, it is another day hopefully a better one then the one before. Her boyfriend had already left for work an hour ago, taking the bus to his job. She left their shared room in a simple three bedroom apartment, ready to take on the days activities. Walking into the kitchen, she reaches for a clean plate and find nothing, all the dishes had piled up in the sink. Dirty and covered in decay, the odor is enough to make her gag, the stoves and countertops are covered with trash. She had listened to her mother and had decided to silently protest against her roommates, hopefully to get them to see if she did not clean no one else does. But, instead she got a text from her boyfriend about how his life is on the brink of destruction, because the house is a mess and his coworkers are the worst. Something that he of course blames her for, as she is failing at being a useless housewife. A title she never requested, yet like all the times before she buckles down and begins to clean. After doing so she has no appetite left, not that there was much food in the house to begin with anyway.
Well y'all it is official we have a new president elect of the United States of America. The nation is dancing in the streets sighs of relief are heard in every house, well most homes. Unfortunately, the nation remains divided over this presidential matter even though it is over, the race has ended. While, I personally am very neutral on the president, I do have hopes and opinions on what I would like to see happen in the next four years.
