The past will win if you let it.
Whatever we think about what we go through always pushes us to do something we thought we never would do in our lives and do we really know what we are doing or does anyone not care at all. I have a friend who used to be a good friend of mine which turned into a lover however, I was a shitty human being to her because I was in a dark place because I hurt her more times than I could count. We eventually forgave each other after all the things we did to each other but now she is in a dark place which I fear she cannot get out of because she is the type of person who cannot let go easily of certain things. Her hurtful words and spiteful actions toward me that it makes me think I did the same to her, I see how she is mirroring the exact same things I did to her so, now I understand how she must have felt when I did that to her. So, if you think actions and words do not do anything to a person, you are more wrong of a person if you have not realized it now whether you like it or not there is always going to be something you regret and cannot take back. Ruining someone can have consequences more than you think but once it is already done, you will realize it is more hurtful than pain itself and nothing can compare to the pain that you feel therefore it is your pain that nobody can feel. With pain comes a price you must pay which could feel like as if you are paying with your soul to bleed every time you make the choices you make that can destroy you as a person. It is something so intense that it will make all your bad feelings look like a joke which cannot compare to the other bad feelings you have ever felt, and, in this life, nothing can prepare you for anything that has not happened yet. Moreover, why is it when it is too late, we know after it has happened. I think if we knew how bad mistakes would happen or how it would be would have change things but that’s not how life works so, we just learn to live with it till it does not hurt anymore. It does not make it easier though, with having the weight on your shoulders we carry as we are trying to move on from the mistakes we could have avoided if we did not think with our hearts rather how it should have been if we thought with our minds. Whichever way you think can always lead you a different way from the other and not knowing how it will end up is a death sentence for your feelings which might as well just dig your own feelings into a grave of no return. I am sure there is more worse things to happen out there then out here somewhere and the most unfortunate thing to happen to someone as they walk right into that worst scenario not knowing what just happened and how they deserved to come across such a horrible thing to come their lives. Whoever is reading this must be thinking “what was the point of this?” well the point is do not take for granted how good you got it because one day you might not have it because there is me suffering and probably others who suffer more than me but once you are suffering alone makes it more greatly bad as it sounds that reason being nobody is going to help you through it. As much as you take the words of positivity from people is all they can do, and you know those words are not enough but to just think about what they said when you are alone with your thoughts. That was my past as of now my message to people who are suffering from whatever they are facing is that if you want to give up because of how hard it is, you should not because I have never seen one person who decided to do nothing about it change their lives that way. Whatever life gives us should not be the negative thoughts of losing it should give us the positive ways of thinking of how we can be better and to make it better for ourselves for us to break from our strongholds we are so used to holding onto.

Morning Coffee
Morning coffee.. hmm.. this moment right here, right now is delightful. The wonderful aroma of coffee fills your home, the morning sun streaming softly through the window, and silence, as you watch the birds in the tree outside. And sound is absorbed by the first snow of the season. Your tastebuds flourished with the exquisite taste of your warm caffeinated beverage that you have cupped between your palms. The window is cold, so you pull a soft, cozy blanket over your lap. Just gazing out the window, early morning, watching a car or two and even a snow plow go by and geese in the sky heading south. One sip after another, and you hear padded feet excitedly trotting towards you and a wet nose greeting you. “Looks like someone finally woke up, Good morning sweet girl!” You say softly. Resting your hand on her head, she rests her head on your lap and joins you. Watching the world beyond the window.

The Wind in Our Dreams
“I don’t believe in coincidence, nor do I believe in chance. However, I do believe in hope, I do believe in faith, and I do believe in miracles. The human spirit is one of the strongest forces that I’ve come to know. When we make up our minds to do something or to have something, and we pursue our dreams with conviction- we find that despite all odds, NOTHING can get in our way. To the person reading this journal, you did not come into its possession by chance, nor did I leave it behind on accident. Just like everyone else, you deserve a shot at your dreams. They are what give us life and purpose, after all…” -Anonymous

Together We Go
My mother has died. And like thousands of others, because of Covid, she is gone without ceremony. And even though I’m shattered by the suddenness, my pain is alleviated because she escaped an otherwise long and painful death. Identifying her body at the funeral home cocooned in PPE was traumatic. Leaving her 77 year old dead body in a frigid, sterile white basement, alone on a steel slab other deceased bodies had no doubt visited, felt unforgivable. My sorrow took me to bed for days.

A hot summer’s night
It was a hot night in July. Alex was walking down the beach, the warm, soft sand between her toes. This was just another ordinary day at the beach for Alex. It was her evening routine to take a leisurely walk in the soft, white sand to unwind from a long day. Today was nothing new. Alex walked for about an hour, it wasn’t dark yet, so she decided to keep going. As she was walking she stepped on something hard. Alex didn’t think much of it being that every once in a while there would be a stick that would poke through the sand. She looked down only to discover it appeared to be a little black book. Alex, being curious, decided she would take a break from her walk and read this little black book. After all, it could have a neat story inside, maybe even a mystery. Alex opened the book and began to read. It seemed to be a journal of sorts. As she continued to read she came across an entry that read “I have no one else in my life, to the person that found this book, I leave you $20,000!” Alex couldn’t believe what she was reading! “There’s no way this can be true”, she said out loud after reading the book. She continued reading curious as to how she might get this money, if this was even true. The book went on to direct her to an old abandon barn in the middle of nowhere. Alex followed the directions exactly as they were explained. She was excited, but extremely nervous! She eventually came to the old abandon barn. “Now what?” She thought. She continued to read. The little black book lead her to a spot in the top of the barn. It was really creepy up in that old, rickety barn. Alex found the corner of the barn that the book described. The book stated that there was a hidden compartment in the wall. It continued on to tell her exactly where to push on the wall. Alex was extremely nervous at this point. “Could this really be true?” She thought. She pushed on the piece of the wall as directed. It popped open. Alex was shocked! It really was true! There in the secret compartment sat a pile of cash. Alex counted and indeed it totaled up to $20,000! Now what would she do with all this cash? She can’t just carry a huge bundle of cash in her arms! Alex sat down for a minute to gather her thoughts. This is going to change her life! No more struggling to get by! This was a dream come true. She could hardly wrap her head around it! Alex sat for a little while, taking in her surroundings. As she sat and looked around, Alex saw an old leather bag across the barn. “That would be perfect to carry this money in!” She thought. She got up and went over to the bag. Alex picked up the old leather bag and opened it up only to find a note that read “Congratulations on finding my treasure! May you be taken care of and good fortune always come to you!” Alex felt a warmth come over her, like a hug. She was startled at first, but realized it must have been the one that left this small fortune to her, giving her a hug. This was truly the best day of Alex’s life! She packed up the money in the old leather bag. It was now pretty dark outside. Alex always carried a small flashlight in case she walked longer than expected. Today was definitely one of those days! She was happy she carried a flashlight. Now it was time for her to end her journey and head home. Alex pondered all of the things she could do with the money she had just found. Her first thought was paying bills of course, but she wanted to invest in something. That would give her the financial stability she needs. Alex was so excited! Her new life began today and to think it all started as an ordinary walk on the beach.

Fresh Start
Every year we commit to change or improve but in the end we do nothing. We stay the same. So the question is, why are we making those resolutions anyway? At first, I had no resolutions what so ever. Then I changed my mind, I committed to one thing only, to be the best version of myself. I know, it isn't very specific. Although, it gives me opportunity to develop more changes as I go through life. Think of it as a flexible plan which will help you to adapt to any unexpected situation.
