Writing as an excuse for adventures

Writing, or any kind of art, can be an excuse for doing things you want to and exploring stuff you are into in more depth then you would usually do, so that you can then write about them!

Good writers, musicians, artists have things to get out of their heads and chests and hands, they have topics to explore, stories to share, experiences they want to bring to life and to a public of glad witnesses.

Everything we like makes us think about it and the more we like it the more interested we get into it and the more articulated and insightfully inspired our thoughts about it become. So... that can lead to us wanting to do more of it and know it better and therefor to seeing life as a treasure hunt for adventures to write or make art about.

Hence, when you have passions, hobbies, professions, friends, lovers, enemies, movies you like, books you read etc...well you have a deep deep well of material for writing or drawing or painting, or sculpting, or photographing or vlogging to draw from...and so, well, you get the gist, writing or whatever your art, becomes the perfect excuse to indulge yourself in your favourite interests, because then you can use them to fuel your creative genius.

Furthermore, even when we really like something, it can be challenging to do it with consistency, due to our own laziness and lack of self belief, so having a system of incentives, like making art about it, can make a huge difference...and it works the other way around as well.

For example I love Bruce Lee, The Lord Of The Rings, How I Met Your Mother, the weird and fascinating online seduction community from the noughties, philosophy, self help/self development, acting, music, drums, bass guitar, beat making, juggling, psychology, neuroscience, podcasts, vlogs, meditation, coffee, veganism, nutrition, environment, TV series, forests, thinking about life...and so on.

Therefor, for instance, I can watch The Lord Of The Rings movies for the 2000th time and decide to take notes and write a series of articles or a book on it and maybe take some screenshots and do some Photoshop editing and digital fan art illustrations inspired by it or a series of portraits of all the characters and make an art exposition of it. Endless options just from that.

So my dear friend and co inhabitant of this space of awareness that has taken the shape and form of this body and personality that your mum called Kajo, use your life and your interests as a fuel for your writing and arts, and use your writing and arts as an excuse to enjoy your life and interests.

Writing and arts can be your tool for making sense of your inner dialogue and outer happenings, to understand things by writing and arting about them and by doing so, you end up thinking about them in a deeper and more meaningful way.

Art can be your path for a richer and more fully lived life.

In short: life feeds your writing and art, and writing and art feed your life, so that writing and art become a great excuse to go on adventures, see places, make friends, meet lovers, care for your family, read books, share and experience joys, sorrows, memories and stories and live a life well lived...so that in return you can write and make art about it.

PS: I am incredibly pissed off because I wrote this article in the most perfect way I could have written it, way above my abilities! And then, when I was adding some photos from Unsplashed, a page appeared on the tab saying that something went terribly wrong. I went back and all of my work was lost!!! I got spoiled by other software that save your work automatically when the page crashes so I forgot to save at every new sentence. DAMN IT DAMN IT DAMN IT!!!

Ah well, it is life, I punched the air a few times, swore and yelled angrily to the sky, then regrouped my debris and went on with it. This article that you read is not the best version of it. The one I lost due to the page crashing was just perfect, it was one of those INSPIRED streams of thought that come around once and if you grasp them, good, if not, they are gone and you can't remember them for the love of you. Doesn't matter, it is an adventure and I am writing about it, so... take THAT!!!... unreliable internet technology!!! There you go, I somehow managed to stick the landing, and I rewrote it and brought it home. Not perfect, but now that I come to think about it, I am indeed very happy with it. Hope you enjoyed it too. See ya! :)
