Whiskey Love
Sarah lazily opened her eyes and stared blankly at the ceiling. If it wasn't for the rumbling in her belly she probably would have just stayed glued to the bed in the same position for the whole day just as she has done for the past week. The sun peeked through her window gazing at the light blue walls and beautiful rays of sunlight beamed across the room. She noticed its beauty only for a fleeting moment until the negative thoughts began to creep in her mind and take over her day. She found the strength to drag her sluggish body to the refrigerator and opened it. “Empty of course”, she mumbled to herself. Opening the wooden cabinets she looked for the dry leftover crackers she had for dinner last night. Two measly crackers revealed themselves, she chuckled sadly as she flung it in the garbage. “This must be what depression feels like” she questioned herself as she plopped down on the couch. The empty bottle of whiskey on the glass table caught Sarah’s eye. Sarah stared at the empty bottle and felt slightly comforted. Whiskey was the only thing that has kept her company lately. She could almost taste the smoky, spicy whiskey flavor in her mouth. Sarah’s appetite for food suddenly disappeared and a smooth, strong drink was the only thing she had a taste for.

How astrological signs can truly define who you are.
"Sorry, I don't believe in astrological signs." That is the very sentence I often hear people say when the subject of astrological signs is brought up. And funny enough... I'd say the same. But although I don't believe in magic, I do believe that one's astrological sign can define one's future. Here's how.

Inner Monologues & Lemon Juice
Shaking off a glazed daze, I focused in on the name on the page. It was the only words I'd written so far and it wasn't even my real name. I chuckled and reminded myself, 'The name's not important. I write under a pseudonym most of the time anyways. It's the words on the page that are truly enchanting. 'The only words on the page's mockingly mimicked the voice in my head. 'The only words on the page.....And my deadline is less than 24 hrs away.' | sunk. Writers block had been an issue lately, and not having anything to show to my editor at our meeting tomorrow was NOT going to go over well. I tried to take a deep breath and focus, but a refrain of 'The only words... The only words' was now thoroughly stuck on loop in my head. 'What on earth am I gonna do?' I could nearly hear my editors disappointed voice, like ghost whispers on the wind, in my ears. I hung my head. Perhaps out of exhaustion or frustration or both.

MEMORIAL DAY
Chapter 1 The mile walk from the diner was the typical end to another work day. The neighborhood was quiet and relatively safe compared too much of the world in which I simply didn't allow myself to think. I couldn't grasp the concept of violence and was immune to the feelings of tragedy.

A Fine Day to Die. Or Maybe Peach Pie
"THE ALIENS ARE COMING TONIGHT, SAVE YR'SELVES!" I wake up to a wild-haired homeless woman wearing a bright pink, soiled tutu screaming at the top of her lungs. She seems pretty convinced aliens are on their way to take over and enslave us. I chuckle to myself that if aliens did visit, they'd turn around and go right back home if That's the first human they saw.

I Am Not Prejudice
I never anticipated acquiring a lifelong friend from a class of 9 people attempting to get through a Masters degree in education together. James Starks, Jr. and I met in an industrial complex used as a classroom by Southern Illinois University Carbondale. The classroom was in Riverside, California and the students from many counties in Southern, California. James and I lived in the San Diego area at the time and it was a 2 hour drive. We opted to stay over in Riverside on the weekends we were in school and this is where I met his lovely wife Kathleen.

Do not open until March 12th
The day the large brown envelope arrived I had other ideas; hope. I had been hoping for a surprise financial windfall, a cheque maybe. I wasn’t expecting any cheque in particular, but I certainly needed money. A random surprise cheque is just what I need to get out of this hole. A big one. Stories about manifesting holidays, jobs, money and even love were becoming more common in the new quantum era. Why not me?

A Doctor's Legacy
2 years. 2 long years of struggle. 2 long years of pain. 2 long years of suffering. But it was finally over. The pandemic had taken the lives of those both close and far and though it was over, the shadows of those who had lost their battle were everpresent in the eyes of the grieving. We had to keep going though; for those we had lost along the way, this was the only way to honour their legacy and prove that mankind would not take a trial like this laying down. We would never stop fighting. In the darkness, specks of light appeared throughout the world, proving that as a collective, we had the power to endure anything.

What Do We Have Here, Sweetness?
“How are you, Anthony? Are you eating, sweetie? You don’t look so well. Come on. Come in, we have enough.” She was talking to him, but looking just past his shoulder. He didn’t need to follow her gaze to know an eviction notice was hanging from his door.

I’m Going to Be Rich
One of Odyssey’s favorite phrases has always been, “I’m going to be rich”. Not just in money or luxury items but rich in her mindset and rich in her character. She understood from a tender age that learning new ways to elevate in life is the best thing that anyone can do for themselves. Odyssey is a writer at heart. She is also a realist. She has kept a little black notebook with her ever since she was 16 years old; she is 25 now. Every time she wrote in her little black notebook, she would start and end her passage with her favorite phrase, “I’m going to be rich”. The in between always consisted of experiences that played a significant role on her life that would later enable her to think in a higher state of mind. This little black notebook would really be her best friend as she maneuvered her way through life. It helped herself learn how to thrive with an open mind the best way that she knew how whilst going through her seasons. By the age of 22 Odyssey’s personality could’ve been seen as unmatched, the diamond that couldn’t break, the one that always knew when to bring peace when needed. She had everything working in her favor. She had a great start in her writing career as a Novelist and movie producer, she had her own place and she was on the brink of becoming fully financially stable. Until her six full years pursuing what has brought her thus far, took a different direction.

The Misrepresentation of a Wild Thing.
The man painted himself in all the wrong colours. He drowned his thoughts in whiskey and found his mirky likeness in the bottom of a glass. He got in quarrels and woke in foggy mornings, with a mirror of black and blue remember me bye’s, hiding his true features behind their inky stains. He rarely bathed, sitting in a bath seemed like a rotten thing to him, his black hair course and matted against his skin like some unwanted dog, though this man had house and home. Apathy soaked the room, drenching into the curtains and the walls, staining their colours grey. That same shade dripped its colours into the foundations of the house in tiny little percussions, like rain that causes the wood to rot and mellow, so that as he walked across the floorboards it fawned beneath his weight and he heard those same doubts creaking back at him, as if they were a real thing, a noise of the world and not a product of his own imagining. You see our man had fallen into the worst of sicknesses, the belief that he was a worthless thing.
