I’m Going to Be Rich

One of Odyssey’s favorite phrases has always been, “I’m going to be rich”. Not just in money or luxury items but rich in her mindset and rich in her character. She understood from a tender age that learning new ways to elevate in life is the best thing that anyone can do for themselves. Odyssey is a writer at heart. She is also a realist. She has kept a little black notebook with her ever since she was 16 years old; she is 25 now. Every time she wrote in her little black notebook, she would start and end her passage with her favorite phrase, “I’m going to be rich”. The in between always consisted of experiences that played a significant role on her life that would later enable her to think in a higher state of mind. This little black notebook would really be her best friend as she maneuvered her way through life. It helped herself learn how to thrive with an open mind the best way that she knew how whilst going through her seasons. By the age of 22 Odyssey’s personality could’ve been seen as unmatched, the diamond that couldn’t break, the one that always knew when to bring peace when needed. She had everything working in her favor. She had a great start in her writing career as a Novelist and movie producer, she had her own place and she was on the brink of becoming fully financially stable. Until her six full years pursuing what has brought her thus far, took a different direction.

One day on her way home from work, Odyssey was hit by a drunk driver. She was immediately knocked out by the impact that caused an open head injury. Shortly after arriving to the hospital she had undergone extensive emergency surgery and was placed into a medically induced coma. Odyssey is a only child who had one friend she grew up with from her neighborhood, Lacey. Her parents weren’t around much of her childhood and not much going into her adult years too. Because she wasn’t around a lot of people growing up, is why Odyssey took to writing as being a huge passion of hers. Odyssey in a realist mindset, would eventually make her see situations in an entirely different light.

Her parents found out about the accident and rushed to her side, along with her childhood friend Lacey. After seven days, Odyssey woke up from her coma. She was in a very incoherent state and obviously felt like she didn’t know what to do. But as she went to physical and mental therapy with time and patience, everything was falling right back into place. And eventually after four months, Odyssey would make a full recovery.

Odyssey was back at home and sitting in her living room when she saw her little black notebook sticking out of her purse the night that she was in that wreck. She picks it up and as she’s rereading every single passage that she’s written since she was 16 years old; it hit her that Odyssey needed to start from scratch.

There was a new profound excitement about life that Odyssey had never seen before. One that couldn’t be tamed and was the motivation that she needed so that she didn’t feel as if she was stagnant anymore. Now, her little black notebook was her go to with new goals followed by any other accomplishments she had made in those time frames. And of course, in the start and end of each passage would write, “I’m going to be rich”. Her first goal was to get back into her Novelist ways and within three months she would be back to work full time. Her second goal was to start yoga with her childhood friend, Lacey, every Friday morning. And that quickly turned into something neither of them would give up for the world. Odyssey also managed to save $3000 after being back at work in a couple of months. She saved that much and randomly considered investing in stocks and thought, “Well, maybe one day if I get $10,000 out the blew”. At the time, Odyssey felt like that would be enough to really make a profit at some point. But her ultimate and final goal was to be her own movie producer on her own set. Her little black notebook was once again her best friend; at least she never lost sight of what was of most importance to her. Odyssey found herself knocking out her goals one by one and sometimes two by one. And before she knew it she was back again thriving and learning through every obstacle that came her way.

On the perfect Friday coming home from work after an early day, and doing yoga earlier that morning with Lacey, Odyssey was going to order in some expensive dinner and wine, just to treat herself for a productive week.

So she went to check her bank account and found an extra $20,000 just sitting there. She immediately thinks that this must be a mistake, so she calls her bank to talk to somebody. The customer service rep immediately saw the problem and contacted the person who the money was supposed to be deposited to. The other person didn’t even realize the mistake and asked the customer service rep to just keep the money in Odyssey’s account. Keep in mind that Odyssey and this random person on the other line with the customer service rep had never met before. But this person wouldn’t take no for an answer and so the customer service rep got back on the phone with Odyssey and said that they wanted her to keep the money with no strings attached and no questions asked. After being on the phone for 45 minutes and her bank altering the deposit to match her account, Odyssey was left in shock.

She just sat on her new found wealth for a couple of days and she doesn’t say a word to anybody. This was definitely a story to go in the little black notebook, except this time the start and end of, “I’m going to be rich” was the beginning of her reality. Early Tuesday the next week she decided to invest all $20,000 of her surprise money into stock and within a couple of months investing in different areas of the stock market made $3 million. This was her breakthrough and eventually turned her $3 million into $25 million and that into $50 million. She was finally able to open her own movie set and ultimately was her own movie producer. Her career continued to climb from there and is still on the rise. Her favorite little black notebook was one of the key things that helped her along her path that kept her in check with herself. And her intellectual along with spiritual growth was what brought her to this point. “I’m going to be rich” isn’t so far away anymore, she is living it.
