Is the American dream a lie?

What drives you every day?

From the time we are born we are taught if we work hard you'll get ahead and be prosperous in life. But the higher you climb in your career financially, are you ever fully satisfied. Why is this you ask? Simply put, if your not doing what you love your just going through the motions. I came across a commercial for a game and though the game doesn't matter it's the message that does. The entire game is a puzzle where your the king trying to reclaim your treasure and willing to risk your life for it. Why do we think in this way? Money is a temporary solution to a long term problem. Is the grass greener on the other side of the fence? Very rarely it is, but we keep trying it our way doing the same thing over and over hoping for different results. Have you ever thought back and although you were great at something when you were young you gave up on your dream for wealth? Or made choices that ruined those dreams? Either way, why did you give up on your natural gifts that were awarded you at birth? Every single person is special, you just have to find it within you and let the world see it. Why do we enslave ourselves to the dollar bill? Like I said it's a temporary happiness that will eventually fade away. Everyone has heard the story of the immigrant grandfather that worked there butt off to make something for his family in America. His son will know the blood sweat and tears that went into it but will his grandkids or there kids? We have seen it again and again, the inspiration from the past is lost on the youth of today. In many cases 2-3 generations down line will destroy what the past created. They simply don't have the same motivation for they never had to work for it or know the value of it. But, is this how we should be thinking? Unfortunately in todays times we have to have money to survive, but at what cost? Watch TV during the afternoon during the week. I bet you'll see a commercial for something killing someone who worked for someone who didn't care about them. Why enslave yourself to a company who would replace you in a week if you died tomorrow. Our loyalty is mislead and misguided, we give too much to those we shouldn't and not enough to those we should.

Think with me for a second, let's say your working 8 hours a day with a 30 minute commute to and from home. Your sleeping another 8 hours and about an hour to get ready for work. If we add that up were at about 18 hours and have about 6 to spare for ourselves. Most likely your work hours are higher than that and you suffer each day by robbing your body of the rest it needs. Forever over indulging to keep the body cranking, feeding it whatever stimulants needed to just make to the weekend. Were constantly reminding ourselves we will catch up on sleep and everything else on the weekend. But when it comes other things always get in the way and we just keep pushing until the body gives up. Do we as a culture just want to keep living this way? Always feeling like your running on empty and nothing you do ever satisfies you. So you become numb and fall in line with the grind telling yourself when I get this or that it will be better. But is it ever better or is it just more of the same? Why do we lie to ourselves and fall into laziness and thus so become fearful? Fear of the unknown, fear of getting hurt? Look at it from a different angle, and think about it positively. Start making the changes that will help not hurt. The correct choice no matter how hard it is, will always be the correct choice in the end. Living a life full of stress and worry only leads to more suffering. Even if you're at the lowest point you perceive to be in your life there are always choices that can drive you in correct direction. We have to learn to listen to our bodies, they are crying asking for relief. But we as a YOLO society keep going until it breaks. Maybe the breaking is the part of life telling you to slow down and take it easy. If you drove your car and never put any oil in it, how long would it last? Eventually the engine would cease, this is the state our bodies are in when we do not listen.

Is this the life that we worked hard for? A life were we live to work and work to live? I doubt this is what our for fathers had in mind when they created the constitution. Get back to your roots and find what you love and do it. Learn to live a simple life and you make anything work. Love what you do and it will show in your work and you'll find over time the choice was correct. Why do we want to live in a way that requires us to kill ourselves for something we can't even take with us when we die. Discover how to be a child again, learn to love like you once had. This is the foundation to happiness, it's always been in you. In you is the soul and it also needs some of that good love. If when we die the soul is all we get then how come we pay no attention to it until it's too late? Balance is the key to success in every aspect of your life. You can't have your cake and it it too, it just doesn't work this way. So I say, rebalance your life and let happiness be the center.
