The Hare And The Tortoise

Hare And Tortoise

We all know the story of the tortoise and the hare. But interestingly, we have only read the first part of the story.

Did you know that there are three more chapters to this story? Some of us might have read or heard them, but most people haven't.

Let's find out the rest of the story:

🔰First Part:

This familiar tale from our childhood storybooks illustrates a valuable lesson. In this story, the hare, brimming with overconfidence, takes a nap midway through the race, allowing the slow but steady tortoise to win. After his surprising defeat, the hare took time to reflect and discovered that his primary downfall was his overconfidence. This tells us that overconfidence may be harmful to anyone, no matter how talented they are. On the other hand, the turtle discovered that success requires consistent effort and unyielding tenacity. The moral of the story is that, although confidence has its place, it must always be tempered with humility and persistent work.

🔰Second Part:

After his initial loss, the hare, determined to redeem himself, challenged the tortoise to a rematch, to which the tortoise readily agreed.

In this race, the hare maintained his pace without any interruptions and crossed the finish line first. Through this experience, the hare learned that unwavering dedication and focus are key components to achieving swift success.

On the other hand, the turtle realized that while it is admirable to keep up a steady pace, it is not enough to succeed in a highly competitive setting if it does not possess the required speed. The turtle learned a valuable lesson from this realization: consistency and sufficient speed must be balanced in order to succeed in any race. The tortoise learned that while persistence and steady effort are valuable, they must be complemented by the ability to move swiftly when the situation demands. Hence, striking the right balance between maintaining a consistent pace and incorporating the needed speed is essential for securing victory and achieving success in competitive endeavors.

🔰Third Part:

Now, the tortoise invited the hare to another race. The hare agreed without hesitation. Then the tortoise said, "We have raced on the same track twice; this time, let's race on a different track." The hare agreed. So, the race started on the new track.

As usual, the hare started running fast. The tortoise also started following behind. When the tortoise reached the hare, he saw that the hare was standing still and couldn't reach the finish line.

Because there was a stream before the finish line. The tortoise looked at the hare once, then went into the water, crossed the stream, reached the finish line, and won the race.

The hare realized that relying only on one's strength is not enough; it is also crucial to understand the situation and reality! And the tortoise understood that first, you need to find the competitor's weakness and then plan accordingly.

But the story doesn't end here!

🔰Fourth Part:

On this occasion, the hare proposed another race to the tortoise on the familiar track. The tortoise consented, but with a twist—they chose to participate as partners rather than rivals!

As the race commenced, the hare swiftly carried the tortoise on his back until they reached the stream. At that point, the tortoise dismounted, lifted the hare onto his back, and skillfully navigated the water. Once across, the hare resumed carrying the tortoise, and together, they completed the remaining distance. This time, their collaborative effort ensured that both emerged victorious, celebrating their shared success.

📚What did we actually learn from this?

We learned that having individual skills is excellent. But true success comes when working as a team and utilizing each other's skills, where everyone can smile as a winner.
