There is good in the world

Looking up

First story and ironically it’s about 2020. Who would’ve thought 2020 would be such a crazy year? I started out like most with hopes and a few dreams of which haven’t come true- Yet. I thought 2020 would be the year of flying cars or something spectacular, instead it brought a global virus and a lot more with it.

The pandemic spread across the world like wildfire in a matter of weeks, lives forever changed in what we now call The new normal, but is it? Yes. Mandates , wearing masks almost everywhere you go, social distancing, never thought I’d hear that one and oh yes extra cleaning procedures. How the world had changed. Did it bring people together? Honestly, for awhile maybe but it seemed to draw people further apart. We would go to great lengths to * slow the spread * , oh yes and we’re all in this together; but are we? Seems to have driven people further apart. Most odd thing of all to me, is the * vaccine *, they want to issue at what they say warp speed. Sounds a bit skeptical. Those things take time. We’ll have to see.

Due to Covid, and the lockdowns it messed with the economy and people’s futures. They had to rely on the government for relief, yet once they realized they’re business wouldn’t reopen and unemployment was stopped for even a short period, things got hard. The government tried to help * by sending out one time payments but it wasn’t enough. Those working from home or still working are greatful .

Civil unrest over one act , also spread across the country and the world in a matter of days. Some of those involved only intention was peace but they got overrun. Some were able to say hey, we just want peace while others had different intentions. Ruining local law enforcement departments and making us lose our trust in them when we should never doubt them. Same time there’s racial tension which appears to bring a divide . We should strive to work together.

There’s the weather extremes from a quiet tornado season ( Spring) in the south, we have yet to see what the Fall will bring to wildfires in the west . Also, as I’m writing this there is a historic event occurring in the tropics- not one but two named storms in the Gulf of Mexico are expected to reach land by the end of August. Will they merge? Most likely no, there’s speculation but my thinking is no. Then there are the multiple earthquakes large or small in places you least expect.

The education system was changed, kids had to learn at home beginning in 2019 and some until now. It changed not only the kids but the parents had to learn how to be teachers and the longer it was in effect the more socially distant they can become. You need friends, interaction.

Those who worked in essential businesses all of the sudden were recognized as important, yet one of the most potentially affected groups to Covid with daily interactions with the public and co workers. It became a toll on many emotionally and if someone tested positive everything changed, protocol or your business was closed temporarily or for good.

Admist all the chaos, grass is always greener on the other side. There is good in everyone you just have to find it. A kind word, act will go a long way. We’re all in this together. 2020 isn’t over yet, so I’ll finish this next year part 2.
