Did you know that you can add coconut oil in all 3 forms to your diet and regimen?

  • Coconut water
  • Coconut milk
  • Coconut oil

What is a coconut?

Coconuts are the large seeds of coconut palm trees, which grow in tropical climates. Within the brown, fibrous husks conceal the meat inside. The white flesh inside a coconut is known as the coconut meat. Research shows that the coconut meat is rich in several important minerals, especially manganese and copper. Whilst manganese is the foundation that supports enzyme function and fat metabolism, copper assists in bone formation as well as heart health.

Coconut is packed with wonderfully healthy properties. Rich in fiber and MCTs, it may offer a number of benefits, including improved heart health, weight loss, and digestion. Overall, unsweetened coconut meat makes a great addition to a balanced diet.

In this article we will discuss and shed light on the major reasons why introducing Coconut into your health and hair will do you justice.

Coconut Water

Coconut water is derived from the inside of a coconut. Once it's cracked open the nutritious clear water flows out of it and has amazing health benefits and should be consumed daily and even added to smoothies as the liquid base.

It is naturally refreshing and has a sweet, nutty taste. It contains easily digested carbohydrates in the form of sugar and electrolytes. Electrolytes are great for rejuvenating the immune system much like gatorade does with electrolytes but coconut water is a more natural product that you should opt for especially after vomiting to replenish your system naturally with the needed electrolytes.

What are electrolytes? Electrolytes are minerals in your body present in your blood, urine, tissues, and other body fluids. Electrolytes are important because they help in balancing the amount of water in your body. so it naturally balances your body's acid/base (pH) level.

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil has a lot of amazing benefits which are as follows...

It is extremely great for hair health. when used on the scalp or as a prepoo before shampooing it can overtime provide a dandruff free scalp, growth as well as softness. It has also been used for centuries by our ancestors in a method known as oil pulling for great teeth and mouth care health, which also doubles as a bleeding gum stabilizer.

Coconut oil has anti-inflammatory properties that can help reduce inflammation that may lead to hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism. It is a healthy saturated fat that supports thyroid function making it extremely beneficial for thyroids and actually helps prevent thyroid disorders. Unlike soy oil and other vegetable oils, coconut oil does not interfere with thyroid function.

Be sure to keep some coconut oil on stock in your kitchen at all time because the benefits are endless.

I personally use 1 teaspoon of coconut oil in my smoothies as a natural sweetener. Its kind of sweet but not strong or overpowering and its beneficial according to research for thyroid health in small amounts. It also counts as a fat , so it can help keep blood sugar steady.

Coconut Milk

Coconut milk comes from the white flesh of mature brown coconuts. Coconut milk and cream are sources of healthy fats called medium-chain triglycerides also known as (MCTs).

The flavorful aromatic take on coconut milk packs a lot of flavor and is a great addition when you're cooking. Nutritionally, it's a good source of calcium, Vitamin C, E, D, and B. It's important to note that most coconut milk that you see being sold on the market has been sweetened, so you must take heed to that information in order to track and watch out for those added sugars.

Coconut milk is a great additive to smoothies as a replacement for yogurt. It is also tremendously beneficial as a hair mask or prepoo which is before the typical shampoo and conditioner process. It can be added to yogurt for an amazing hair mask.

You can also make a natural face mask with coconut milk to get brighter skin. It has been used traditionally in India to remove dead skin cells from your skin and makes your skin brighter and smoother.

Coconut Hair Mask

  • 1 cup of coconut milk
  • 1 cup or plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 tbsp of raw honey
  • 2 tbsp of olive or Grapeseed oil

Blend or mix in a bowl. Apply to hair and leave on for 30 minutes. After rinsing, shampoo and condition as you normally would. your hair will have body, bounce and more life to it restoring any dull, lackluster strands. Check out our other health articles below.
