your best chances

Please take this as advice and suggestions, even the best advice wont guarantee anything, especially as you have to hope others are doing the same as you. I have 12 years experience in the health care sector and I am qualified to managerial level. I have training in medication, ppe and all aspects of health care and the use of equipment.

1. Don't go out. easier said then done but your best chance at present. Keep surfaces clean, wash your hands often with decent soap and keep your home well ventilated. Try and get food delivered, clean all packaging once the food is inside and use hand washing techniques often. While being kept indoors is hard it wont be forever, hard I know with children.

2. Take care shopping. Only shop when you need too and try to buy in advance unless limits are placed in the shops. Try and keep apart from other shoppers, take your own bags and clean trolley and basket handles. Now the controversial bit, masks and gloves are pointless unless used exactly as defined. Many medical institutions cant use the proper equipment and protection as its being bought by people who don't use it properly. Disposable gloves are to be used once and for only one subject. They are another layer of skin so if you have gloves and touch 2 things you are just as likely to transfer the virus as if you had no gloves.

They are not designed to be washed or worn more then once, you cant take them off and stuff them in your pocket till next time. Similarly any mask that's not a high quality medical one wont help you either. Any bits of cloth, bandanas, scarves or builders dust masks don't help. Only wear a mask if you have been found to have the virus or if with some one who has it. In these cases you wouldn't be outside anyway.

3.listen to the rules. If your government says stay home and only go out when you must then listen. The police in one county within England has closed down 660 parties and big gatherings in 2 week period. Leave the house for only very short times, stay out the minimum time and then go home. The beaches and parks will still be there after this is over, you might not be if you go.

The virus can travel around 6 feet if coughed , sneezed or spat. It can be on any surface, you can pick it up and take it home. Is it worth the risk to yourself and your loved ones. Its not worth the risk, one infected person will infect on average 3 people. Those 3 will infect 3 more, those 9 will infect 3 more, those 27 will infect 3 more and on it goes. If you want to start going out safely and legally wait till the virus is gone. Its now been shown all ages can get this, its not just people who are elderly or have pre existing health conditions.

4.be patient. Don't panic shop or panic about going out. also importantly ignore nearly everything on social media about the crisis and when it might end. Watch official broadcasts from those in charge and take news from only the national broadcasters. Wait till they say its safe to go out, don't interrupt anything. Just listen to what they say, an improvement in death rates or infection rates isn't an excuse to go out.

This will take as long as it takes and it will then take a while for any normality to return to society. Businesses will need to try and rebuild, everyone will need to restock and we will need to start over. Its horrible and scary but wont be forever. Give yourself the best chance by keeping safe at home as much as you possibly can.
