If the winter blues are about to settle in; stand up, shake them off and get outside with a few new fun activities to keep you warm and the blues kicked to the curb. Keeping up with fitness throughout the winter months can be a challenge, so we've created a shortlist of fun activities to keep you fit and have you coming back for more this winter. Soon, you'll be asking Mother Nature to keep winter around a few more months than usual! There are always a million things to do once you put your mind into finding a winter activity, but with this short and helpful list, you won't have to look much further. Read on, folks!

Mountain Hiking Trails

One of our favorite things to do is to get out to the mountains for some fresh air. Get out of the city and explore some great hiking trails. If you're struggling to find a trail that works for winter boots, check out renting (or purchasing) a pair of snowshoes. They will be your best friend when hiking. Trails will open up to the heavens with an easy snap-on of a snowshoe. There are tons of hiking trails most places on the planet, checking with locals, googling or buying a book can aid in finding whichever trail you desire. Hiking trails are god's best-kept secret. If you find a trail you really love, you can do the trail more than once in a winter! Repeat trails often aid in finding more 'secrets' along the trails. Getting familiar with your surroundings when hiking is a great thing to do. Walking in nature will take your breath away as you take in the loveliness of the trees, mountains, and wildlife. Taking your time, you'll see the world come alive before your eyes.

Paintball

Want to challenge your friends to a war? We highly recommend checking out paintball. This lively event will have your spirits soaring so high, the winter cold won't be able to touch you. Shooting your friends with little balls of paint is thrilling. You can play teams, solo missions or whatever else your mind can think of. Most paintball studios have games set up, all you have to do is show up with the crew of dudes you'd like to shoot. Everyone will be laughing and enjoying the hunt throughout the day. After shooting each other, you'll want to retire for a cold, fresh beer and you'll be booking your next session in no time. The fire will be burning within yourself as your aim and the game only gets better. Keep coming back and you'll be a sniper in a flash. The crowd will be rowdy but enjoying every second spent in the war-zone. Learning the skills required in the game will keep your interest through the long winter months.

Motorized Bicycle

Fresh air is one of the best main ingredients to keep the winter blues away, especially if you're getting on your bike! Once out for that fast and fresh air on a motorized bicycle, you'll be kissing strangers. If you live somewhere warm enough, this is the winter activity to do. (If you live in a winter tundra - check out snowmobiles for the same(ish) effect!) The fresh air will always cheer a person up and get you smiling from ear to ear. You can take your motorized bike up to the mountains and get off to check out any trails you may come across. Driving through the mountains or even staying in the city will have you visiting all your frozen friends who have kept inside. Letting the sun hit your face this winter will be sure to drive up that Vitamin D and keep you smiling through the months. Exploring your city or the surrounding area is a great pass-time. You'll find unexplored areas of your own city. (Have you really seen it all?) Finding new adventure, in your own backyard always makes a good time.

Needless to say, if you're feeling shut-in and sad this winter, find an activity that suits you. Enjoy the fresh air (warm or not) and get outside. Keep fitness alive and strong! Bundle up and stay frosty.
