The Fountain of Youth

Ancient secrets from Tibet

Life is a wonderful Magical Mystery Tour and mine as taken me out to Far North Queensland, the land of crocodiles and pythons, and placed me in a paradise up the Gillies Range with the Rainforest as a backyard where a precious fairy and her beautiful Peter Pan have built their home with their own hands.

It is no surprise that in such land lays magic.

In the midst of her Reiki material, packed in a suitcase that has seen the world and lived great adventures - a suitcase from a time when suitcases held so much character - I found a book called “Ancient Secret of the Fountain of Youth”, by Peter Kelder.

Needless to say that despite the fact that on the cover is stated “If you are over the age of 35, you must read” and I’m still to reach my 30s, I’ve devoured it and have been practicing its powerful simple teachings ever since.

The knowledge is from Tibet, the story inspiring, the testimonies to die for and the practice almost too simple to be true.

It consists of five simple rites that you are to repeat every day, starting off the first week by doing only three repetitions of each position, adding two a week, to a total of 21 repetitions for each one of the five exercises every day. This sounds way more complicated than it actually is.

It promises to make you look younger, feel younger, stimulate your hair growth, give you better memory, get rid of body fat that does not feel healthy and give more energy and lasting power.

It sounds like magic, and that’s because it is. Magic is everywhere, as long as we let ourselves flow with it. The principle of this practice is the balance and activation of all the seven chakras.

The book makes it crystal clear to understand: “For thousands of years, Eastern mystics have maintained that the body has seven principal energy centres corresponding to the seven endocrine glands. The hormones produced by these glands regulate all of our bodily functions. Medical research has recently uncovered convincing evidence that even the ageing process is hormone regulated. It appears that the pituitary gland begins producing a ‘death hormone’ at the onset of puberty. This ‘death hormone’ apparently interferes with the ability of cells to utilise beneficial hormones, such as growth hormone. As a result, our cells and organs gradually deteriorate, and finally die. In other words, the ageing process takes its toll. If the five rites do indeed normalize imbalance in the body’s seven energy centres, as Mr. Kelder maintains, perhaps as a consequence, hormonal imbalance is normalised too”.

I mean, it’s worth the try, right?

RITE NUMBER ONE

This is a simple one, done with the express purpose of speeding up the vortexes. All you do is stand with arms outstretched, horizontal to the floor, and spin around clockwise.

Rite number one

RITE NUMBER TWO

This rite further stimulates the seven vortexes. Lie flat on the floor, face up. Fully extend your arms along your sides and place the palms of your hands against the floor, keeping the fingers close together. Then raise your head off the floor, tucking the chin against the chest. As you do this, lift your legs, knees straight, into a vertical position. Then, slowly lower both head and legs, knees straight, to the floor. Allow muscles to relax. Breath in as you raise head and legs, out as you lower them.

Rite number two

RITE NUMBER THREE

Kneel on the floor, with the body erect. The hands should be placed against the thigh muscles. Incline the head and neck forward, tucking the chin against the chest. Then, move the head and neck back as far as they will go, and at the same time lean backward, arching the spine. As you arch, you will brace your arms and hands against the thighs for support. After arching, return to the original position, and start the rite all over again. Breath in as you bend backwards, breath out as you bring your head forward and tuck your chin to your chest.

Rite number three

RITE NUMBER FOUR

Sit down on the floor with your legs straight out in front of you and your feet slightly apart. With the trunk of your body erect, place the palms of your hands on the floor alongside the buttocks. Tuck the chin forward against the chest. Then, drop the head backward as far as it will go, while raising your body so that the knees bend while the arms remain straight. The trunk of the body will be in a straight line with the upper legs, horizontal to the floor, and both the arms and lower legs will be straight up and down, perpendicular to the floor. Tense every muscle in the body and finally relax your muscles as you return to the original sitting position. Rest before repeating. Breath in as you raise your body, hold the breath as you tighten your muscles, breath out completely as you come down.

Rite number four

RITE NUMBER FIVE

It’s the cobra and downward facing dog. Start lying face down on the floor, supported only by hands and toes. Your palms will be spaced out apart from your shoulders with your fingers spread and your toes in a flexed position. Legs and arms kept straight. Start with your arms perpendicular to the floor and arch the spine back so the body is in a sagging position. Throw the head back as far as possible. Then, bending at the hips, bring the body up into an inverted ‘V’. At the same time, bring the chin forward, tucking it in against the chest. Return to the original pose, and flow the rite all over again. Breath in as you elevate the body to downward facing dog, breath fully out as you come down into cobra.

Rite number five

That’s it! First week three repetitions for each rite, every week add two times to each practice until you reach a total of 21. And then keep doing it everyday, 21 times. How beautiful is this magic?

Always be mindful of your breath, your body and your mind. Pay close attention to each movement, feel where it feels comfortable and witness it evolve over the weeks.

Too easy, hey?

“We considered ourselves fortunate indeed. For in all history, few have been privileged to learn the ancient secret of the ‘Fountain of Youth’.” That’s how the book ends.

Oh, how blessed is this lifetime?

The lifetime of consciousness, the lifetime of the Age of Aquarius, the lifetime where we remember. We are all one, we are all energy.

To an overwhelming, connected and expanded New Earth!
