5 Women Weight Training Myths Debunked
It seems there is a never-ending supply of advice when it comes to working out and losing weight. I am no better myself; I am obsessed with learning everything I can in regards to exercise regimes, breakthrough supplements, and weight-loss suggestions. Like all advice, you are bound to come across an article or two spewing information that is totally false. While we are usually able to sort through the bologna, sometimes our BS detectors fail us, leaving us to believe something we shouldn’t. For example, “Don’t run, it’s bad for your knees,” “Only do cardio to lose weight,” and the famous, “Lifting weights will only bulk you up.” While I can’t debunk all the myths, here are five strength training rumors that we have all heard, may have believed, but are completely untrue.

It is very convenient for people to stay home and exercise at their leisure when they have a busy schedule and don't want to be forced to pay for a gym membership or have a fear of the gym. But it can be easy for people to make naive exercise mistakes because they are in a rush or don't understand how to fully do the exercise to maximize its effect on the body.

Thomas StairsPublished 7 years ago in LongevityWorking Your Workout
We all know in today’s world, there is not enough time in the day to get everything done. Most people work long hours at jobs, then come home to families with active lives of their own. Parents struggle enough trying to get in family time with all of the extra-curricular activities their kids are involved in. With the ever-growing struggle to get through the day, when is there time or energy to workout?
Vanessa Cherron RiserPublished 7 years ago in LongevityAttacking Autoimmune Life With a Fitness Mind
The dictionary describes fitness as a general state of good health, usually as a result of exercise and nutrition. That is most likely the reality for anyone looking to start a fitness regimen; however, my reasons go even beyond that.

Every year guys are struggling to get that ripped look to amaze everybody on the beach. But the problem is that almost all of them fail year after year. There are just two reasons for that: 1) Wrong attitude about training; 2) Ineffective training program. Ivan BoikovPublished 7 years ago in LongevityHave You Figured It Out Yet?
Aargh! What's wrong with me? Why can't I be like the rabbit that keeps going 'til I reach MY happy place? Wait! What? You too? I do well for a week with exercising, and then BOOM! Plantar Fasciitis! No problem! Google floor exercises! But, this is not how I pictured it!
J.T. WellingtonPublished 7 years ago in LongevityWhat I Eat in a Day to Stay Healthy
I have never shared my fitness journey on my blog before. If I am being honest, I wasn’t 100% sure that I could do it. I also never liked photos of me, so posting monthly pictures of my progress was my worst nightmare. I am really proud of my progress because I made a lifestyle change. I didn’t do one of those crazy diets or use weight-loss pills. I simply changed my diet, went to the gym more and most importantly, was consistent. I definitely didn’t see results right away—it took a few months—but once my clothes starting fitting better, I wanted to keep going.
Nicole BrooksPublished 7 years ago in LongevityI Ghosted the Gym and I Am OK with It
I just cancelled my gym membership, for the second time. That moment when you are greeted by a bouncy smiley receptionist is almost enough to make you walk out or possibly try and get on a treadmill in your work clothes to avoid declaring you are leaving them like a mid- life crisis. I had to bite the bullet and fess up, this relationship is over and not doing much for me (mainly because I will do anything to avoid going in the first place).
Vikki SinclairPublished 7 years ago in LongevityAvoiding the Gym Fear
Starting a gym can be intimidating and downright scary, especially if you don't know what to expect. I am not a personal trainer nor am I a professional sports anything, I just like to work out. I enjoy the thrill of it and I like the way that it makes me feel. Your first encounter is going to leave you re-thinking your decision to get healthy and fit.
Linda BlankenshipPublished 7 years ago in Longevity54 and Not Afraid to Take Off My Shirt
Let me just say, I love being 54! The old adage is "you're only as old as you feel." That goes for physically as well as mentally. It's great to have a youthful mindset, however, if you're out of shape and overweight, you're missing out on all of the great opportunities your mind has planned for you. Let's be honest, missing out on memorable experiences because of something you have the power to change would just suck.
