Insomnia Cookies

A resolution to sleep

By Amourè DeezyyPublished 2 years ago 3 min read

New years hardly feel new when your sleep cycle is imbalanced working we often forget to treat ourselves to one of the best gifts on this planet. Sleep is the greatest gift on this planet aside from the awesomeness of knowing that half of the population is probably sleeping at the same time, sleep gives us the energy we need to be great.

How many of us know how to kick it? Relax, chill, reset and rest. Often we neglect our space to relax, making excuses to stay up and alert because we don't want to miss anything. The pandemic gives us more reason to feel unproductive people sit up all day hoping it makes a difference. I've experienced not being gentle and kind to myself enough to know that people who do not sleep need a gentle reminder. Sometimes our ego convinces us we don't have time for sleep and we go along maybe hours, days, and some of us weeks. It's slightly amazing to know that there are insomniacs out in the world unable to fall asleep and stay asleep. With 30% of adults experiencing short-term insomnia think of how important our sleep truly is. Insomnia can be hereditary meaning sometimes this is genetically out of someone's control. Pets can have insomnia too, so be sure to check on your furry friend if they are up too long.

Insomnia increases alcohol abuse and the risk of car accidents.

As rockstar, as it sounds staying up all day and night, fear and anxiety are what insomniacs are carrying subconsciously. Dreaming may be something they need to experience to encourage creativity, memory, and emotional stability. So as an abiding bed citizen I have to frame a bed for my insomniacs to sleep. Not only do insomniacs need sleep they need relief and top-tier comfort surroundings, they can achieve this by investing in good pillows and a mattress that relieves pressure points and provides support. Research and incorporate Fung Shei into your environment, observe the flow of your sleep cycle when you declutter, and decorate your room according to energetic laws. Set a reminder to relax your body & mind do this by not using your phone 30-45min before you go to bed. Listen to white noise, melodic music, calming nature sounds, sleeping meditations, or affirmations. Write release, scripting, or just telling a story or a poem, until you are sleepy! Get a humidifier while it increases moisture in the air, which keeps your nasal passages, throat, and airways from drying out. Research and buy or grow plants that assist with air purification also test essential oil or blends like patchouli, lavender, or cinnamon. Take a warm bath set your mood to add herbs or bath bombs to your water for aromatherapy, light some candles, play your favorite slow songs. Foodie insomniac? Try warming some cookies up if you don't mind a surprise tomorrow morning, Make it fun go to a cookie place called insomnia cookies get in on the pun! or make yourself some hot tea! Herbs that can help you aid your sleep like chamomile, valerian root, lemongrass, and ginger. Make sure you are disciplining yourself by setting reminders for bed, turning your tv or devices off, and writing down your sleeping pattern for the next 21 days to instill the habit initially. Insomniacs are not the only people who can commit to this resolution but I dedicate my experience in sleep wellness to save someone else's, Commit to your sleep and your wellbeing. We need you to show up for yourself for you to show up for the world the way you do!
