Fun Night Routine

Ohh night time, the time where most of us begin to whine down and relax and prepare our minds for the next day. But one thing many of us forget is taking care of ourselves and planning our nights for a smooth morning. Having a night routine is just as important as having a well managed morning routine. Here are some ways you can have your night run smoother and have a brighter morning.

The first thing you should do is have a set time to STOP ALL WORK every night. Set a timer or put up signs in your home office or wherever you work. This will help you mind turn that switch off and allow you to know that your workday has come to a close. We can all bring work home with us especially during this time when many of us are working at home, but we have to tell ourselves the day is over. If you don’t there will be a point where everything will start to merge and you will never have any personal time in your week. Allow it to be an extra 45 minutes to an hour after you get home if there is something you absolutely have to get done.

Do something personal. This can be anything that can bring a little rainbow in your workweek. You can do face masks, have a glass of wine, read a book, plan some time to talk to friends or family, it can really be anything you want. But let it be something that can truly bring a smile on your face.

Take the time to be yourself. All day we have to conform whether it is at work or at school or just being a parent. When you hit that switch to stop for the day, be yourself, let your hair down and enjoy yourself.

Use this time to plan your next day. Set out your clothes, pack your lunch, charge all your devices, write your to-do lists. Sometimes planning for your next day can be getting some extra rest and just making sure you wake up ready to start your day.

Do something stimulating. Read a book, meditate, exercise, and/or pray. Reading can take you to a different place in a whole different world and maybe sometimes that is the best thing you need at that time and to help you relax for your night. Meditating or praying is a great part of your night and can show your appreciation and gratefulness of the day you can even if it was the worst day ever. Showing some gratitude can potentially make tomorrow better. Exercising is a great way to tire yourself out and get you ready for the night.

Make the night entirely and completely about you. If you have kids, or a family make sure you have a separate routine just for them. But have one just for you that will help you relax and unwind and rest your mind. Do not mix everybody else into private things that make you happy and what soothes your soul.

If you allow other people to invade your routine and how you relax or how to “chill out” at the end of the day, you will always be working and you will never get time for yourself.

These are some of my tips for a night routine, I hope they help you make some time for yourself and do something for yourself every night. Remember, self care is personal and very important. Take care of yourself before you try to do everything else for everyone else.
