Each week when I do these readings I set up my reading space with black fabric, (for the photo, mostly but it also allows for and smooth, calm space to focus on the cards) make sure I have undisturbed quiet time; dogs are out, husband is at work/play/store/whatever, phone is off, etc… I begin with a quick grounding meditation and settle into a centered peace to ask for guidance in choosing the cards which will be most appropriate for the week ahead. I shuffle the cards with my intent in mind and spread them in a dealer’s “ribbon spread”. Then with eyes closed, I ask for the Center card, the West card and finally, the East card, reaching out to the spread, touching the cards and choosing the one that feels most fully under my finger tip, then sliding them into their positions. Before opening my eyes I return to a calm, centered state and do my best to sense whether the three cards I’ve chosen are the most fitting for the highest and best for all involved. Only then do I turn them face up and photograph them for the reading. There are times when I see the three cards before me and groan or breathe a sigh of relief but I always use the cards I’ve selected ”blindly”.

That said;

The Center card this week is the Aeon. (Similar to Judgement in RWS.)

The Aeon is about birth. This card means a new era, new eon or epoch. It is judgement day, time to evaluate the remote aspects of who you are. What experiences have shaped your perspective? What influence has your life up to now had on your choices? Now is the time to look past the lighter things that are readily changed and into darker corners where the tough flesh of old scars has created a barrier. If one is carrying a bullet from an old wound, even though it may not hurt or be noticeable there’s a chance that having a foreign body trapped inside you is doing damage that’s not easily detected. Like that bullet, old heartbreaks, betrayals, abuse, loss can create damage long after the scars have been made. The key here is to know that you have a choice. You can do some deep, exploratory surgery, (meditation, confession, thought, acceptance, forgiveness) untangle the irritant, remove it, cleanse the empty space it left and let it go. This is Your time.

The West card is the 6 of Pentacles.

The Pentacles represent the physical and material aspects of our lives, our resources; time, energy, money and our physical body. This six is where our spirit and physical selves meet. It’s about recognizing the tough times we’ve been through and making a clear choice to do things differently from now on. In entering the energy of the six we discover the talents, insights and wisdom we have that do work and work brilliantly. We see our purpose and the determined actions we need to take to embrace the opulence of joy. Here our physical efforts meet our spiritual desires and realize that the relationship is symbiotic. Give and take result in equally nurturing results. We find that we love the pits and pratfalls as well as the successes we encounter because they’re all ours. We are no longer at the mercy of outside influence because we’ve discovered that all the intricate parts needed to create our goals are within us. This is a very powerful space to be in.

The East card is the 8 of Swords.

Aaaaand here we meet the first of our obstacles. This eight, being of the Swords and so the intellect, shows us just what thought patterns, opinions, distracting details and drama stand in front of us to tug at our resolve and try to distract us from getting on with our new age, eon or epoch. How timely to have the Aeon card (from the major arcana and a stronger influence than the lower arcana Swords) to give us the uplift we need to see clearly the strength to choose what best fits our plans and forward movement. When we make the decision to let go of old issues and patterns often the people who have known us and become familiar with the way we are/were will feel threatened with losing the person that they "know". This can be one of the most difficult challenges to overcome because the people we've been close to have inevitably been a part of the influences that shaped us. The trick here is to communicate from the heart of who we are. When we can be true to ourselves, listen to out inner wise voice, we can release the entanglement of misinterpretation and speak honestly. Even though we may face rejection or manipulation, if we keep our finger on the pulse of the truth inside us we may (will) find that we don't feel the need to respond to pressures from outside influences because all the guidance is within us.

In Conclusion;

Changes on a grand scale. We step into a new birth (as opposed to a rebirth) which asks us to honestly face the discrepancies we see in our own view of Self, to purge and honor them and to recognize that we truly have the power, wisdom and strength to do so. I think I’ll call this the week of the Phoenix. There has indeed been a blazing inferno (literally and physically) burning through our lives for the last year and the changes we’ve had to make, whether out of choice or necessity, have brought us to this time of a new eon. When we remember that the choice of where to go from here is squarely in our own hands we find the joy that can be had in knowing we’ve done the work on our own. The pride and pleasure in a job well done.

Have a motivational week!

TIP for the week: We judge ourselves by what we feel capable of doing, while others judge us by what we have done.
