Mirror Dragon Tarot, 4-12 thru 4-18-21

Each week when I do these readings I set up my reading space with black fabric (for the photo, mostly but it also allows for and smooth, calm space to focus on the cards) make sure I have undisturbed quiet time; dogs are out, husband is at work/play/store/whatever, phone is off, etc… I begin with a quick grounding meditation and settle into a centered peace to ask for guidance in choosing the cards which will be most appropriate for the week ahead. I shuffle the cards with my intent in mind and spread them in a dealer’s “ribbon spread”. Then with eyes closed, I ask for the Center card, the West card and finally, the East card, reaching out to the spread, touching the cards and choosing the one that feels most fully under my finger tip, then sliding them into their positions. Before opening my eyes I return to a calm, centered state and do my best to sense whether the three cards I’ve chosen are the most fitting for the highest and best for all involved. Only then do I turn them face up and photograph them for the reading. There are times when I see the three cards before me and groan or breathe a sigh of relief but I always use the cards I’ve selected ”blindly”.

That said;

The Center card this week is Death.

Though this card does pertain to death it doesn’t have to mean the death of a person or animal, in fact it most often refers to the death of an idea or ideal, a manner of thinking or being. In all the books I’ve read plus all the years I’ve been reading cards, the Death card has always been associated with the full cycle of life, death and rebirth. Like the beautiful dragonfly, its lowly larva stage skittering around trying not to get eaten by fish, birds or whatever, then being encased inside a cocoon only to “die” and be reborn as the lovely and delicate winged adult. This week we’ll likely be facing the release of ideas and situations that, though they may be familiar, comfortable, or more likely uncomfortable, have served their purpose and taken on the gravity of burdens that weigh on our shoulders or hearts.

The West card is the 10 of Swords.

This card, being the culmination of the Swords’ energy, symbolizes the processes of the mind and intellect in their most varied and intricate form. At its most detrimental, it shows our descent into the mind and cognitive processes drawing us farther and farther from the heart and soul of matters at hand. We may find ourselves tangled up in whys, and why nots and either seeking to blame others or taking the entire onus onto our own shoulders. At its highest it shows us that there are no kings, bosses or anyone greater than our full self and the garble of words, titles or archetypes of power are simply that, just a garble of words.

The East card is the Devil.

This is the card of lies, deception and intentional misdirection. As part of this particular trio of cards, what it suggests to me is that our ability to recognize any deceptions we’ve been functioning under is brought out clearly for us to see. Whether they’re being put forth by others or by us, whatever false faces, masks or veils have been hiding things are now removed. We face the possibility of seeing exactly what machinations and manipulations are going on around us and the realization of what must be done to alter our actions to regain trust, self acceptance and reliance on honorable foundations. Dealing with large purchases, legal matters and life changing situations this week, we could find some surprises. Whether for good or ill may depend on our ability to stand in our own integrity and honor demanding honest information from the sources we’re working with. Whatever the case this should be an eye opening time.

In Conclusion;

Honesty and courage will be our best companions for the week. With this powerful trio we face the past, our demons and our integrity plus our ability to speak the truth to power. We’re given the chance to look in a mirror and truly see the toughest and most challenging of the energies around us. They may come from others or they may be our own demons rearing their heads so we can sever them with the swords of truth, love and understanding. This week do your best to be honest and kind at the same time and try to remember that you deserve to know the truth. Cut through the tightly woven cocoon of deceptions and spread your luminous wings of honor and integrity.

Have a clarifying week.

Light, Tory

TIP for the week: People don’t like to be faced with the truth. Be respectful, but confront them anyway. A single moment of honesty is better than a lifetime of lies.
