The Energy of Reflection : How We React.

Moon - Numbers: 2&7 Day: Monday Colour: Whitish (white, black and silver) Parts of the body: Breasts and Alimentary System Metal: Silver Stones: Selenite, Mother of Pearl and Moonstone Herbs/Incense: Camphor and Frankincense Plants: Melons, Broom Tops, Willow

If you haven't, be sure to read Chapter 1 about the Sun... it'll give a lot of insight.

There is a very apparent relevance to the balance of the sun and the moon that I was talking about last time; though the light's power affects the essential life on Earth, how plants grow, the tides, women's cycles...

It's very much like a healthy hetero relationship (though this can apply to any romantic preference), the woman, or feminine energy, does amazing feats while the man, or masculine energy, hypes her up, and vice versa, with the moon using her lover's warmth to do her thing.

As I've mentioned before in my post about the sun, with the moon's waxing and waning, it represents change, potential and adaptation to said change through understanding the possibilities throughout our lives.

Just as the brightness of the full moon dwindles down to the dark moon and back again, this planet represents that ambivalent side we all have. There's both the beautiful, romantic, creative, kind side as well as that fearful, uncertain, dishonest, sometimes even mean side in all of us.

And before you say anything, yes, I know that the moon and the sun aren't actually planets, so please don't come for me! That's how I was taught to refer to them! :)

Just like the feminine energy it represents, The moon is a nurturing planet and was associated with many powerful goddesses across many cultures, both back in the day as well as today, with some cultures and even individuals still honouring female deities to enhance their own inner power and confidence; from the Greek, Roman and Mayan goddesses Artemis, Diana and Chel respectively, to the Indigenous American and Hindu South Asian goddesses that are largely still celebrated in their respective cultures.

The moon shows how we react to the world.

I've mentioned before how knowing your moon sign and even the signs of the people you're close to gives you a better understanding of how someone will react to the world around them, including you. Their intuition and how the carry themselves emotionally is better understood when your left brain can categorize why you drive them insane.

The best part about understanding this is that we then know how we want to be treated and how to treat other individuals in our lives because then we can finally see why, say, two Scorpio suns don't act alike, or even like the same things, or in this case, want to be treated the same way; their other planetary signs are different!

Also as a side note: if there are any people reading this who are involved in psychiatry or psychology, knowing astrology in general will be an immensely useful tool for you; knowing more specifically your patients' personality and how they react, think and respond to the world around them will help you create a healing process that's more specific and ultimately more effective for each patient accordingly.

Paying regard to our moon sign also means to be mindful of how defensive and protective of ourselves we can be. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with that aspect of ourselves to an extent. It's a natural instinct we innately have to make ourselves feel safe, but sometimes we'll get defensive to the point of coming off as if we're rejecting the kind - hearted intentions of the people around us.

Again, I want to repeat that the best thing you can do for yourself is to find out your moon sign. If for nothing else, you'll be better able to explain to others - be it old friends or potential new ones - that "this" is how you need to be treated, how you tend to interpret when someone does "this", and how you respond to that, and in knowing and understanding this about yourself as well as each other, you'll be able to better express yourself to one another in a way that the other can appreciate it.

Better knowing yourself - that reassurance and knowing how to reassure others - will strengthen your relationship with everyone around you.

From there, I suggest getting familiar with love languages, seeing as the right responses fall under those categories: touch, words of affirmation, gifts, time and acts of service. But be sure to note that sometimes, all people want essentially is help and to be understood.

Just like the moon gets its influential power from reflecting the sun's light, when we take the time to see ourselves from another's perspective and adjust how we react to and treat others accordingly, thus being more necessarily nurturing toward each other, then through that moon's energy we can be more approachable and be able to exercise our own ability to be more open - minded to see things from another person's side and nurse our understanding, our love and our trust back to health again.

We were born to trust, we should allow ourselves to trust again.
