DASH stands for low-sodium Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension. The DASH Diet was developed to help people control their blood pressure without the use of drugs, though it has been used as the basis for a weight-loss diet.

DASH focuses on vegetables, fruits, low-fat or nonfat dairy, whole grains, while limiting saturated fat and dietary cholesterol.

Salad with Roasted Tofu and Peanut Noodles

To add crunch and protein to this vegetarian noodle salad recipe, which is tossed with lots of veggies and plenty of peanut sauce, top with chopped roasted peanuts.

  • 14 c. lime juice
  • 14 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp of canola oil
  • 1 14- to 16-ounce package extra-firm water-packed tofu cubes
  • 6 oz. whole-grain spaghetti
  • 12 cup natural smooth peanut butter
  • three tbsp water
  • 3 minced garlic cloves
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, minced
  • 6 cups napa cabbage, thinly sliced
  • 1 thinly sliced medium orange bell pepper
  • 1 cup trimmed snow peas, thinly sliced

Instructions

Step 1 - Place the rack in the lower third of the oven and preheat to 450°F. Spray a large baking sheet with nonstick cooking spray. Bring a large pot of water to a boil for the spaghetti.

Step 2 - In a large mixing bowl, combine the lime juice, soy sauce, and oil. Stir in the tofu and marinate for 10 minutes, stirring frequently.

Step 3 - Transfer the tofu to the prepared baking sheet using a slotted spoon; set aside the marinade. Tofu should be golden brown after 16 to 18 minutes of roasting, stirring once halfway through.

Step 4 - In the meantime, cook the spaghetti according to the package directions. Drain.

Step 5 - Combine the reserved marinade with the peanut butter, 3 tablespoons water, garlic, and ginger. Combine the spaghetti, cabbage, bell pepper, and snow peas in a mixing bowl.

SMOOTHIE

Coconut Cashew Protein Smoothie

This smoothie is great for weight loss because it has a good balance of protein, fat, and carbs, which promotes stable blood sugar levels and allows your pancreas to secrete your fat-burning hormone, glucagon!

  • Half banana
  • 1 tbsp. cashew butter
  • Quarter cup unsweetened coconut milk
  • 2 scoops protein powder (dairy-free)
  • 1 tsp Espresso Dynamic Greens
  • 2 to 3 ice cubes
