Let's Go To Stonehenge!

Danny, Gavin, and Lee have been best friends since they bonded over a stolen comic book at their elementary school’s annual book fair -- and subsequent detention. These guys are now broke 20 somethings in college, stealing hearts instead of books this time around. Being the adventurous types, they always find interesting things to do during spring break. Unfortunately for them, Danny’s idea for the gang to go on a college field trip to Stonehenge, would prove to be their most challenging quest. It must be tough going from beach parties to fighting all manner of fairy-tale things. But of course, everyone knows that druids, elves, and ogres are all just fantasy beings…right?

Danny Pullman is basically the leader of the group, and the most outgoing. He’s a black scholar and an aspiring pro basketball player who scores many points as well as women. He’s a jock but with the brains to balance things out. Gavin Ito is a bit more reserved but is very skilled at soccer. Being second generation Japanese-American hasn’t always been the walk in the park that his parents had hoped for him and his brothers, but as a jack of all trades, many different subjects come easy to him. He doesn’t like being called a genius but he’s just being modest. Last but not least is Lee Campbell - a humble, yet comedic small town guy from the midwest who is phenomenal with all things machinery. His family had been farmers and laborers for many generations, which can be traced back to Scotland. He’s the one that “borrowed” that comic book all those years ago that brought this group together.

The humor in this show would be similar to Taika Waititi’s “What We Do In The Shadows” and Fred Savage’s “It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia”. These aren’t my favorite shows of all time, but I have watched quite a bit of them and find that they are two comedies I think best fits the bill -- except for the excessive raunchiness in some scenes. There is no direct cameraman like a workplace sitcom, but various characters will occasionally break the fourth wall. The pilot should have a one hour runtime to get most of the settings and characters established, with each subsequent episode being about a half hour long.

The Pilot episode, “Lets Go To Stonehenge!”, starts like any classic college roommate situation. Everyone is sleeping in late because, duh, it's Spring Break dude. EXCEPT for Mr. Daniel “I’m gonna sign my squad up for an impromptu trip to another country they’ve never been to” Pullman. He barges through the front door after his morning cardio shouting with excitement, “Fellas! Ya’ll better pack your bags!” Lee, sleeping on his stomach, kind of groans and pulls his pillow over his head as streams of sunlight can be seen coming through his blackout curtain. Gavin is just barely conscious, staring at the ceiling fan rotating. He stayed up late to read another book about computer sciences. “Yo!”Danny shouts as he drops his gym bag on the floor. The other two filter into the living room and Lee groggily and sarcastically asks, “what did you do and why are we fleeing the country?”. Gavin snickers, “no Lee, I think this is about the History class field trip.” Lee rubs his eyes And looks confused “But I thought the deadline was two weeks ago. What happened?”. “Well,” Danny replies, “the other three people who were gonna go, got a bad case of food poisoning. Lucky for us! Not so much for them. I got us some waivers to sign us up for the trip!”

Gavin’s furrowed brow caught Danny’s eye, “Look guys, It will be fun. Let's go to Stonehenge!”.

Obviously, to move the plot along, Danny somehow convinces the others to accompany him on this trip. They leave on Monday morning to London, England with seven other History students and Professor Lewis Burton. Burton is a zany, enigmatic history professor from London so it all makes sense why he’d ask for funding this trip . Lee has never been on a plane so he’s somewhat terrified thanks to the turbulence. They land in London and its bustling with life, and impatient cyclists.

The next day is the fateful day that the group would figure out that there is a lot more to the old megalith than meets the eye. On the Stonehenge tour, Danny sneaks away but not before Gavin catches a glimpse of him trying to get as close as possible to the megalith. Gavin grabs the attention of Lee while the tour guide is distracted, so they can retrieve their friend. “Dude!” Lee whispers, looking right at Danny, “We’re not allowed to be here! I know you said you wanted to get close, but not THIS close!” “Shhh, I hear something,” Danny replies while pressing his hand against a stone. “Yeah, It's probably me. Your conscience, seriously stop touching the rock man, it's getting weird”, Lee says in a hushed tone. Gavin was so focused on being lookout, that he didn't realize his shoe had become untied and as he ran to warn the others, he trips. Due to the momentum, Gavin somehow pushed the other two down into an invisible portal inside a trilithon, which consists of three stone blocks. They look up and are now facing a group of people with hoods. “Behold, The heroes of our kingdom have arrived!” one of the hooded people shouts.

The group proceeds through the episode trying to prove that they aren’t the chosen heroes of prophecy, but they always end up doing something cool and unfathomable that makes them more famous -- and infamous. Some dark wizard puts a medieval hit out on them which deepens the plot for the whole season. Between fighting hit-men, dragons, and hilarious debauchery, the guys also attempt to find a way back to their own world.
